10. Dr. Heathcliff Huxtable "The Cosby Show"
What? Dr. Huxtable only ranks as the 10th best fictional doctor? Oh sure, if this was a list of the top ten sitcom dads then Bill Cosby would rank number one but this list is a specifically ranking each character as a doctor and really none of the classic moments of "The Cosby Show" come from his scenes as a doctor.
9 Dr. Horrible, "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog"
Joss Whedon will have to write some Dr. Horrible sequels if the lovable but evil genius wants to work up the ranks of the greatest fictional doctors.
8. Doc, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"
The saying "the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts" is true about the Seven Dwarfs. As a whole the dwarfs are a great team but Doc on his own isn't quite good enough to make the top of the best fictional doctors list.
7. Dr. Benson Honeydew, "The Muppets"
Beaker usually gets all the attention but Dr. Benson Honeydew is one of the best Muppet characters. Have you ever seen a sick Muppet before? Well, Dr. Honeydew must be doing his job correctly then.
6. Dr. Wily, Mega Man
Dr. Wily is the greatest video game fictional doctor and one of the most underrated video game villains. It is Dr. Wily that helped to create the robots that Mega Man must defeat in each video game installment. That Dr. Wily never runs out of ideas either. There's Cut Man, Heat Man, Snake Man, Tiger Blood Man, Jersey Man, Nose Pickin' Man, All kinds of robots!
5. Doctor Octopus, Spider-man
Spider-man is arguably the greatest superhero of all-time so naturally his greatest villain is high on the best fictional doctors list. Doctor Octopus gets bonus points by putting his brains to good use and building some metallic arms for him to battle Spider-man with.
4. Doctor Doom, Fantastic Four
There are not many villains better Doctor Octopus and even fewer villainous fictional doctors but Doctor Victor von Doom is one of the few that is even greater. Doc Ock is always a thorn in Spidey's side but Doctor Doom terrorizes the entire Marvel Universe.
3. Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones Jr., Indiana Jones
Indiana Jones puts his Ph.D. in archeology to good use by searching for all sorts of legendary treasures like grails and temples or sometimes even alien stuff. In his free time "Indy" also likes to hide and refrigerators and bond with his son and talk about all those giant robots his son fights in those other movies.
2. Dr. Frankenstein, "Frankenstein"
If you live in a house with a geek or have a geek for a close friend then you've probably heard at least one rant about how the monster in "Frankenstein" is not actually Frankenstein but is actually Frankenstein's monster. The doctor that created the monster is the one actually named Frankenstein.
1. Doctor Who, "Doctor Who"
Forget about those nerds that argue over whether Star Trek or Star Wars is better. Doctor Who is better than both and is the greatest sci-fi franchise of all-time. Doctor Who is also an easy choice for the greatest fictional doctor of all time. They actually call him "The Doctor" as if he is the only one.

Post a CommentYou never read the "Master and Commander" series otherwise Dr. Mathurin would be up near the top. Also Dr. Huxtable??? I guess Bones McCoy was in at #11?
It's Bunsen Honeydew, not Benson. Bunsen as in Bunsen burner.
This brought back some memories. Thanks.
