Money Saving Tip #1: Don't get caught up in the hype.
Buying strictly name brand anything is overrated. When you are grocery shopping don't be afraid to buy the store brand. I grew up on off-brand everything and I'm doing just fine and I save a ton of money by doing so.
Money Saving Tip #2: Look for places other than home, to charge your electronics.
If you work in an office or attend a college, then consider charging your phone, laptop, or mp3 player at these locations rather than at your home. It is small, but it is still at least a couple cents saved a month.
Money Saving Tip #3: Use public transportation whenever possible, leave your car for those times when absolutely necessary.
With gas prices what they are now, there is definitely some money to be saved in the transportation department. Save using your car for those times when public transportation isn't available or isn't fast enough. If you need to take a trip to the emergency room, then use your car, if you need to get to work, then take the bus.
Money Saving Tip #4: Don't throw away what you can sell.
If you have old books, DVDs, or anything else that others will be willing to pay for then don't simply throw them away when you find that you don't need or want them anymore. Not only will this bring money it, but it could also help you save on your garbage bill.
Money Saving Tip #5: Don't wash every item of clothing that you wear for 15 minutes.
I wear my jeans 2-3 times before washing them, which saves me money not only because I am doing less loads of laundry, but also because my jeans last longer. Just because you wore something for some period of time on some day doesn't mean it needs to be washed.
Money Saving Tip #6: Don't fill your cart and head straight to the checkout.
After you have made your way through the grocery store aisle by aisle, take the time to sort through your cart before heading to checkout. Many times I can weed things out that I thought I really needed when I initially saw it on the shelf but realize I don't need after I have had some time to think about it. This is a simply way to shave money off any grocery bill.
Money Saving Tip #7: Know what you are paying and to whom every month, then make cuts where you can.
Some people literally don't know what they are paying and to whom every month, which can mean that they are paying for things that they might not pay for it they knew what it is. Make sure that you have a list of what you are paying and to whom for every month. If you find something that you don't need on the list, cut it out. Also, make sure you understand all the charges on a bill, and if you don't call the biller and ask.
Money Saving Tip #8: Don't compete with others, you don't know what things are like behind closed doors.
Just because your friend has something really great and you feel like if they can afford it you should be able to too, doesn't mean that is really the case. You don't always know when someone is in debt over their head, or when they have inherited a large amount of money, or any other number of situations that may have lead to them being able to make a costly purchase. Focus on what you need and can afford, not on what others have.
Money Saving Tip #9: Get what you can at the Dollar Store.
I love the Dollar Store for just about anything I can find there. I love getting cleaning supplies, school supplies,. and even snacks at the Dollar Store. The Dollar Store is also great for those times when you want some retail therapy but can't afford a trip to the mall. I love purchasing some candle votives, candles, perfumes, and even some entertainment items like puzzles at the Dollar Store.
Money Saving Tip #10: Remember that a larger upfront cost might mean a smaller overall cost.
Buying in bulk might seem more expensive and a budget buster, but if you figure the cost per unit, you will probably find that it is much cheaper. Paying more upfront might mean a lower cost in the long run, which means you are saving money. Spending $10 more this week might mean you are spending $5 less overall.

I love dollar stores, they are my salvation! Plugging stuff in at work to charge is a great idea too!
Very helpful to so many, wonderful job once again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
great tips, especially the one about going through your grocery cart before the checkout, I think I need to do that more often!! lol
These are great reminders. Thanks.
great tips. i needed these!
Love the idea of charging things elsewhere. I'm going to have my hubby charge his phone at work from now on. I've also been taking advantage of the dollar stores. We have one that rotates bulk specials. Sometimes I go in there and find grocery items that run 3-4 bucks elsewhere for $1--gotta love that.
These are such handy hints. I try to do what I can to make cutbacks in life.
