Jaguar is a Jewish woman who falls in love with Aimee who is married to a Nazi soldier. Needless to say this movie has lots of controversy but also tells a story about two women falling in love during a very hard historical time period. This movie is based on a true story.
#9 The Adventures of, Priscilla Queen of the Desert (1994)
The Adventures of, Priscilla Queen of the Desert is also a controversial LGBT film. It was set in Australia and is a story about two drag queens, a transsexual, and their tour bus Pricilla. The three main characters are played by Terence Stamp, Hugo Weaving, and Guy Pearce. The three main characters take a trip through the dessert on their way to a gig. Along the way the encounter different adventures and obstacles.
# 8 But I'm a Cheer Leader (1999)
But I'm a Cheer Leader is a very humorous fictional movie about a young girl finding out she is a lesbian, and then being sent to a Straight Camp. This movie is very controversial because it mimics what some LGBT people have to go through is a satire way. The main character named Megan is played by Natasha Lyonne. Megan falls in love with Graham played by Clea Duvall when they are at the True Directions Camp. Throughout the movie you meet some really funny characters and it depicts the experiences that many LGBT teenagers and young adults go through. Other actors and actresses include: RuPaul, Michelle Williams, Bud Cort, Melanie Lynskey, and more.
# 7 Another Gay Movie (2006)
Another Gay Movie just recently came out. This movie is a parody of American Pie, but a gay version of it. This movie is very controversial because it has a lot of shocking, and sexually explicit material. Actors and actresses include: Michael Cabonaro, Jonah Blechman, Jonathan Chase, Mitch Morris, Ashlie Atkinson, and more.
# 6 Saved (2004)
This movie is very controversial because its story line is about young people who go against society's norms. The story line involves a young teenager girl who is attending a Christian High school. She has sex with a young man who is gay and gets pregnant. Throughout the movie she is discriminated for who she is and what she has done. Alongside her, she has two friends that also are considered different and outcast. This movie has some wonderful messages at the end. # 5 Boys Don't Cry (1999)
This movie is based on a true story that involves a transgender male, and his story. This story is about a transgender male name Brandon Teena. Brandon lived his live like a male and courted women. He courting got him financially in trouble because he was using credit cards that were not under his legal name. He ended up missing his court date and met a woman named Lana who he fell in love with. He becomes friends with Lana's friends, and when they discover that he was born a female they brutally rape him and murder him. This movie is very intense, and emotional. Actors and actresses include: Hilary Swank, Chloe Sevigny, Peter Sarsgaard, and more.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch tell a musical story about a transgender rock star from Germany. This movie shows the story of Hedwig and how she started in Germany, and ended up in the United States. It includes a lot of beautiful songs and a unique story line, and lots of comedy. Actors and Actresses include: John Cameron Mitchell, Michael Pitt, and more.

Angels in America also became a very LGBT controversial film and also play. Angels in America tells the story about AIDS in America in a very artsy way. Actors and Actresses include: Patrick Wilson, Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Emma Thompson, James Cromwell, and more.

This movie is based on the true story of Matthew Shepard who was brutally murder because of his sexual orientation. The movie shows the aftermath of Matthew's murder, and tells his story. Actors and actresses include: Clea DuVall , Michael Emerson, Jeremy Davies and more.
# 1 Broke Back Mountain (2005)
Broke Back Mountain created a lot of controversy when in came out in theaters throughout the United States. This movie got a lot of popularity because of the actors who played the lead roles. The main characters were played by Heath Ledger, and Jake Gyllenhaal. The movie is about two cow boys and how they form a secret romantic relationship that affects them throughout their lives.

I'm sorry, but this article is just awful. Most of the movies don't even allude to the controversies that surround the movie, why they're controversial . . . and for those that do mention it, it's one little line. I hope that it's just a case of limited space, because otherwise, it's incredibly disappointing.
Also, how in the world did "Philadelphia" not make the list! A huge, big-name star in a movie about AIDS? Certainly that has to trump "The Laramie Project" in terms of controversy.
