Tip #1 Stop Smoking
Smoking isn't healthy even when you are healthy. If you have bronchitis, smoking is the worst possible thing for your airways and lungs.
Tip #2 Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
When you are sick, sometimes you don't want to drink. Remember that drinking will keep you hydrated! Even if you don't feel up to it, keep drinking as it will help you get better.
Tip #3 Use an Expectorant not a Suppressant.
If you have bronchitis, you don't want to suppress your cough. Check your cough medicine to make sure that it is an expectorant and not a suppressant. You want a productive cough.
Tip #4 Place a hot pack on chest.
To make a hot pack, place a clean towel in the microwave for thirty seconds. Now place directly onto your throat or chest. This is very soothing and can be repeated as often as needed.
Tip #5 Drink hot herbal teas.
Hot tea will break up the mucous and clear out the airways helping you breathe easier. It will also make your throat hurt less.
Tip #6 Eat hot peppers or spicy foods like chili.
No kidding, hot peppers will clear you out. When you fill the worst, eat some spicy foods to clear you out. Better yet, add some garlic into the food and you will be clear for sure!
Tip #7 Pour Eucalyptus Oil on chest.
Essential oils have been effective for ailments for centuries. Place several drops of Eucalyptus Oil directly onto the chest as a decongestant plus expectorant.
Tip #8 Take Vitamin A, B, and C
Vitamins are essential to staying healthy. If you have bronchitis, take these vitamins to rebuild your immune system and clear out your cough.
Tip #9 Use a Vaporizer.
Using a vaporizer will help soothe your throat plus the moist air will help loosen the sinus congestion. The easiest time to use the vaporizer is when you are sleeping.
Tip #10 Sleep.
No one likes to hear that the best home remedy for getting rid of bronchitis is actually sleep and rest. The more time you take letting your body rest, the more time your body has to actually heal. No one wants to have to stop during their day because of a sickness; yet, the sooner you rest, the sooner you will feel better.
