A holistic practitioner is a therapist which uses holistic medicine to treat or heal the mind, body, and spirit. There are several types of holistic practitioners and making sure you know what you are looking for is on the important end. Some holistic practitioners study in the fields of:
Body-Centered Therapy [Practice: Pilate, Massage Therapy, Acupuncture]
Energy-Centered Therapy [ Reiki, Healing touch, and Polarity Workers]
Mind-Centered Therapy [ Hypnotherapists, Integrative Release therapists or IRT's, Meta physician]
Soul and Spirit Centered Therapy [psychic mediums, and spiritual counselors]
Emotional Release- Centered Therapy [
When choosing the right Holistic Practitioner you must know what they do and ask questions. Making sure you are satisfied with their responses and are comfortable with them is extremely important. Some questions you might ask when determining if they are the right holistic practitioner for you are:
What area do you specialize in? As we stated different holistic practitioners focus on different practices. Making sure they are in the field you want is most important.
What techniques do you have to offer that will benefit my health concerns? Watch how they respond and how comfortable they are responding to your questions.
What are your rates? Financial concerns are some of the greatest reasons that people don't opt for holistic medicine. Insurances refuse to pay a large part of the costs and the patients can afford it.
Do you have a number you can be reached 24hrs? Some holistic practitioners allow their patients to contact them around the clock. This gives you a reassuring mind and allows for incidences.
What is the average time you spend with you patients per visit? Just because an office is packed doesn't mean its a good office. Finding out upfront if the practitioner takes time for their patients may save you a world of anguish.
Do you work with your patients to create the proper treatment plan? This is important. It will not only allow you to find out if they have concern for their patients care, but it will allow you to see their reaction when you show interest in your own care. Some offices prefer to do most of the decision making for themselves.
Where have you studied? This is important to know to find out what type of education your holistic practitioner has acquired.
What did you specialize in during your education? This will help you determine the area that holistic practitioner will focus on during your treatment.
How do you determine what techniques to use with each patient? This will help you determine how they may determine your situation.
How many years of experience do you have in this field? This will give you a better understanding of what the holistic practitioner you are looking at can handle.
Remember the more questions you ask them the better! This is your way of getting to know your practitioner. If they are not receptive to your questions, look uncomfortable, or your belly is doing flip-flops it probably be wise to move on. After all it is your health not theirs!
