2. Save the Change: Since I started spending mostly cash, I have accumulated a lot of change which I have been saving in a jar at home. I plan on using it to help pay for a trip I plan on taking this summer. Its a good way to save money without really thinking about it to much. Just come home and drop the change in a container and forget about it, when its full you can deposit in a savings account.
3. Nice when tipping: I know not everyone tips, but after spending 6 months as a server in a restaurant I always try and leave something. Its a lot easier when you can grab a couple ones out of your wallet/purse and leave on the table or give directly to your server that way you know they know you are leaving a tip. Especially for places you go to often, its nice to be known as a good tipper or regular tipper, will probably help you get better service on return visits.
4. No interest: When you pay in cash you don't have to worry about interest being tacked on to your purchases at the end of the month.
5: Also no over draft Fees: If you keep track of what you have in your bank account and only take out the money you can afford you will avoid over draft fees from using your debit card to much.
6: Less check book balancing: I hate to balance my checkbook, so I stopped doing it a long time ago. Since I mostly spend cash I don't really have to worry about it. I take out what I can afford to keep with me and spend only what I can afford to spend.
7. Receipts: I don't have to save all those pesky receipts for every little purchase I make to make sure my bank statements are correct. If I pay cash for a snack while I am out somewhere or to put gas in my car, I can trash(or recycle) the receipt, or not get one at all because I don't need to match it up to a bank statement later.
8. Spending money: I can instantly find out exactly how much spending money I have till next payday by just looking inside my wallet. No calls to the bank or sitting at my computer to look at my account on-line.
9. Emergency stash: I find its easier to save up a small emergency stash at home when I have cash on me, I can take a little here and there and stick it in my emergency stash, then when things get tight or I need a couple dollars for an unexpected expense I have it stashed away at home and don't have to worry about it coming out of my checking or savings account.
10. Save Save Save: Here's what I do, I don't have direct deposit, I get my check on pay day and take it to the bank, deposit all but about 100$ and the rest goes in my bank account. I use that 100$ for my weekly expenses, and continue using my debit card to buy gas for my car(because I don't like going inside the gas station). I find its a lot easier to save money this way as I am not constantly whipping out my debit card to buy everything thing. I am aware of what I have in my wallet and that is all I have, once its gone its gone.
