When a friend shared with me about Associated Content, I was skeptical. Write articles to be posted on the Internet for a few bucks? It didn't seem exactly worthwhile to me. But my friend seemed very positive about the website and I could tell she was enjoying writing articles for it. And she shared with me a great tip: you can let the money in your Paypal account accumulate to a few hundred dollars; she was letting her pay build up until she had earned a significant amount of money from her writing and then would have a nice wad of cash to use for something.
I thought this was a great use of the moneymaking opportunity Associated Content offers. Suddenly it didn't sound like a wimpy chance to make pocket change (an easy $4 per article), but rather a way to gradually make some real money that you wouldn't otherwise have. And if you like to write and speak your mind, or if you're scholarly and well researched with lots of information to share, it's easy money.
So my husband and I checked out the website, liked what we saw, and decided to give it a try. I wrote three articles and submitted them and was really pleased with the offers I received on them. More than that, I found that I had really enjoyed writing the articles and becoming a part of the information-sharing world of the Internet. I found that once I'd started, I was very motivated to write. I almost felt addicted, like I had a new hobby. It was my own little personal world that I could make anything I wanted out of, anytime I had the time and inspiration to sit down and type something out. And it was earning me a trickling income. If you write regularly, earning around $50 a month is an easy goal to achieve, more if you really take this opportunity and run with it. That could pay a bill every month, take you and your hottie out on a nice date, get yourself a massage, or build up a savings account. So now that I've gotten your attention and explained how this is a good opportunity, one where both pleasure and gain are easy targets, let me give you my top ten reasons to write for Associated Content.
1.As said before, you can make a reasonable amount of extra cash that you wouldn't have otherwise. Letting it build up in your Paypal account shows you just how much you earn over time. It's easy to think of what you'd do with $100 in two or three months, isn't it?
2.It's great for people like me who are rather isolated. As a stay-at-home mom with no car and no Internet at home, I feel really cut off from the world at large, and sitting down a few nights a week to write something for anyone in the world to read helps fill the need for connection.
3.It's fun to take part with the other writers/readers of the site. People can comment on your articles and you can comment on theirs. The ratings and the levels you can acquire are exciting and motivating. They mean people are actually looking at what you put out there. And if they like it, it's a nice boost to your self-esteem.
4.It's a great opportunity to sit down with a cup of coffee, relax your body, and stimulate your mind and ideas and convictions. It's a great way to keep in touch with your passions, which can easily get lost amid the daily grind of hum-drum things like work and dishes and school and survival.
5.If someone you know writes for the site, you get a unique look inside that person, and people who know you get the same look inside you. We often are more personal when we're writing than at any other time. It's an opportunity to delve deep within ourselves and express ourselves uninterrupted and unhindered. It's a good way to share yourself with people who know you, but don't always get to see much beneath the surface of you.
6.No one can tell you to shut up. And if they're not listening while you're speaking your mind, you will never know.
7.You feel really smart and worthwhile. You're a published author! People are checking out what you have to say. You have space to talk about anything you care about. You've got an immovable soapbox, a guaranteed audience (of at least the friends and family you ask to read your stuff)-so long as you write about something the editors feel will get hits from Internet surfers and will be worth posting on their site.
8.If your article doesn't get accepted because the editors don't think it will get enough viewers, you can submit it to be posted without compensation. This means you don't get money for your work, but you still get the opportunity for people to see your work and comment/rate you on it, which contributes to the level you are at on the site, as well as contributes to your writing career.
9.It's a great place for shy or insecure writers who want to do something big with their writing to start small and get warmed up to the public.
10.Associated Content will let you swing by your own integrity and intelligence as a writer. If your topic is something they think a good number of people will look into, they will publish your article and pay you at least their minimum, even if you don't write like a professional journalist, or you blatantly and unwittingly embarrass yourself with your limited vocabulary, lack of cohesiveness, or by ranting. I think this says a lot about what a valuable opportunity writing for Associated Content offers you. You aren't writing to conform to someone's expectations on any level (except for some very broad restrictions on subject). You can be yourself and have fun and contribute to the lives and minds of others.

Post a CommentI really enjoyed reading this. I wish AC would pay us aussies - cos I am aiming to be in the top 1000. Hopefully that won't take me too long. I started writing 5 weeks ago and am now on clout 4. And I haven't yet started on many of the topics I know something about :-) I'm working toward having an online income as I live very remote.
great points!
