Christmas is a time for family to get together and share in the wonderful holiday season. Nothing makes sharing more enjoyable than delicious desserts. Pound Cake - This treat is very easy to make with very little experience needed. The pound cake gets its name from the amount of ingredients used to make the dessert. Almost everything in a pound cake measures one pound. This dessert comes in a variety of styles. Some of the more notable styles are Southern, British, French, Mexican, and Colombian.
Apple Pie - The traditional American dessert can be found all across the country. There are literally hundreds of recipes for this favorite. What makes this dessert so unique is that it is so versatile. You can change almost all of the ingredients to fit your taste. You can use red apples, or green apples, cane sugar, or brown sugar. This dish is totally customizable. The two most popular recipes are English and Dutch.
Ice Cream - This long time favorite can be served year round. This is another dessert that you can customize to your liking. The amount of toppings and blends to choose from are almost endless. Whether you like it home made or from the carton, you can't go wrong with ice cream. Another major upside to ice cream, is that it can be served with pies, cakes, and cookies.
Brownies - These square treats are perfect for any occasion. They can be served with or without nuts, with or without milk, and with or without ice cream. They are easy to serve and you do not have to waste a plate. Both kids and adults love brownies, so you are guaranteed to hit a dessert homerun every time.
Chocolate Chip Cookies - No matter where you go, both kids and adults love chocolate chip cookies. There are so many recipes for chocolate chip cookies, that you could spend days reading through them. Almost every family has their own recipe, and each one is different. This another dessert that you will not miss with.
Banana Pudding - There is nothing better than a chilled banana pudding, served with Nilla Wafers. This treat can be made very quickly, and it does not require you to cook anything. Pudding mix can be purchased from the store, and with just a little milk, some Nilla Wafers, and a few hours in the refrigerator, you will be ready to serve this holiday treat.
Eggnog - Eggnog may or may not be considered a dessert, but it is absolutely delicious. This drink is very popular in North America, Central America, and South America. Home made eggnogs usually contain Brandy, which adds some extra kick to the drink. By far, the most popular and most widely distributed, is the non-alcoholic version, available at stores during the winter season.
Cheese Cake - This is one of the greatest dessert creations ever conceived. It is popular worldwide and can be served with a variety of toppings, such as, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and chocolate. There are at least thirteen different styles, including, American, Canadian, British, Australasian, Italian, French, Greek, Swedish, Middle European, Latin American, Asian, and Japanese. Cheesecake is definitely a please all desert.
Crème' Brulee - The name is French for "burnt cream." It derives from the caramelized brown sugar that tops this extremely sweet dessert. Crème' Brulee is one of those dishes that can only be described by tasting it. The recipe is extremely easy, and everyone will love you for making it.
Pecan Pie - This custard, based pie is a tradition in most Southern states, and for good reason. Pecan pie is very sweet, but goes great with a glass of ice, cold milk. If you have never had it, you should definitely make this a part of your holiday tradition.
