10 Romantic Ideas

Mag Brochu
Its not a cliche, relationships really do take work. I am madly in love with my husband, but we both seek out ways to show the other that we still care as much as ever. All it takes is just a few thoughtful moments every now and then to show someone you are thinking about them. Oh, and it doesn't just apply to your mate, find ways to brighten your kids days too! They love to know that you took the extra time to give them a little surprise.

Here are just a few examples of things that I like to do to show I'm thinking about someone special. There are, of course, some elaborate things you can plan, but I want to outline just a few really simple things you can do today without much prep or shopping. Try it, it will be appreciated!

1. Eat dinner by candlelight. I know this seems tiny, but it really sets the mood and makes the ordinary special.

2. Send her a birthday card every day for a month. I know this requires shopping, but I love this idea. I absolutely love my birthday and this would melt my heart. Another version of this would be to do a little something special everyday for a month up to their birthday.

3. Balloons! Helium balloons, colorful balloons, heart shaped balloons, character balloons! People will tell you they don't care for balloons, but deep down everyone loves them! Who wouldn't? They are colorful and fun and totally lift your spirits.

4. Call his at work for no other reason than to tell him "I love you." I have a collection of really cute messages that my husband has sent me. I can't erase them!

5. Kiss every inch of his body...slowly

6. Put love notes on their windshield.

7. Pick a bunch of wildflowers from the side of the road. I don't know about all women, but when my husband has taken the time to pull over on the side of the road and trudge into the tall grass to get me some little wildflowers, I am lovestruck!

8. Memorize her favorite poem or the lyrics to her favorite romantic song. Recite the words to her.

9. Frame your wedding invitation and hang it prominently in your home.

10. Take lessons together. It is a great way to bond with each and learn something new. Take a cooking class or go wine tasting, how about skydiving? The point is to learn something that is new to both of you.

Above all, pay attention to each other. Always make sure they know they matter.
