With this article I will tell you 10 Songs Taylor Hicks should cover and why I think these would be great songs for him to sing. Taylor Hicks is great at covering other people's songs and giving them a new twist. If Hicks were to do a CD of cover songs I think it would be very popular. He could bring many of the older songs back into the forefront of music and it would not be the cookie cutter pop we are force fed on the radio today. Some of my choices Hicks has covered in concerts or on American Idol. I feel Hicks studio recordings of these songs would make for a must have Taylor Hicks CD.

10) You Can Leave Your Hat on - Joe Cocker - Taylor Hicks has that Joe Cocker kind of sound to his voice and singing this kind of song is right up Taylor's musical alley. It is a very sensual song and Taylor Hicks fans I am sure would love to hear Taylor singing this song. In live shows it would be sure to a favorite.

9)Soul Man - Sam and Dave - I love this song it is a great soul song and Taylor could really put his own spin to this song and really make it great.

8)Drift Away - Dobie Gray- The whole time Taylor Hicks was on American Idol I wanted and prayed that he would cover this song. He never has sang the song. I am positive Taylor could really nail this song, add a few things and bring it back onto the music scene.

7) I Should Have Known Better - Beatles - Taylor Hicks does great singing Beatles songs and this is another song by the Beatles that I am sure Hicks could really make his own. The song also has harmonica in it so Taylor would be able to play harmonica. Taylor not only has a great voice but he also can play the harmonica amazingly well.

6) Sweet Home Alabama - Lynard Skynyrd - This is a song Taylor has sang before a few times in his live shows. I would love to have a studio recording of Hicks singing this song. Sweet Home Alabama is a great southern rock song. Having a CD with this song by Taylor Hicks on it would make for a great CD.

5) That's Alright - Elvis Presley - This is a song Taylor has covered once briefly at a show. A studio recording of Taylor Hicks singing the song would be amazing. Taylor has that Elvis vibe to him and he could really do this song justice and he could also had some harmonica to this song making it more his own.

4)Candyman - Roy Orbison- Another great song with harmonica in it. Candyman is a Roy Orbinson classic and Hicks could really get into this song and a newer audience could be introduced to this great song.

3) Life's Been Good -Joe Wash Eagles - This is another song I have always wanted to hear Taylor Hicks sing. I feel he could sing this song so well and make you forget there was even an original. During a live show this would be a very high energy song. Hicks and his band would give the audience a performance that would be talked about for a long time.

2) Hewy Lewis - Working For a Living - I went back and forth for awhile trying to decide if this song would be my number one choice for 10 songs Taylor Hicks should cover and why. It finally ended up in second place though a very close second. This song has lots of harmonica in it which is a huge plus for any song by Taylor Hicks as he is such a good harmonica player. It is also a extremely high energy song. Taylor Hicks could really own this song and this would be a really great song to bring back onto the music scene. Live, this song would be sure to bring the energy level up very high. This would be a song I would definitely request Hicks sing if requests were taken.

1) In the Ghetto - Elvis Presley - In the Ghetto got the number one spot and for great reason. Taylor Hicks nailed this song on American Idol in a minute and half, a full version of this song sung by Taylor Hicks would be mind blowing. This is a very touching song and when Taylor sang it on American Idol the feeling he put into this song was amazing. A studio recording of this song would be sure to be a hit. It was a hit when Elvis Presley sang it and is still loved very much. Hicks could do the same thing with the song and reintroduce it to the newer generation.
