10 Summer Sandals Under $25

Summer Fashion on a Budget

Jillian McCoy
Sandals are a summer wardrobe staple. No matter where you tread during the warmer months, chances are you're wearing a pair of barely-there sandals while you're at it. Unfortunately, most of us live in areas of the world where we experience all four seasons. If you need to keep clothing on hand for all the elements, spending a lot on seasonal clothing isn't always possible. Fortunately, there are lots of ways to pull off high style at low prices. These 10 pairs of summer sandals all ring in at $25 or less, making them a less-than-guilty pleasure.

When setting out to do the research for this article, I worried that the pickings might be a little slim. Besides flip flops, I didn't expect to find such a wealth of inexpensive summer sandals available. Imagine my surprise in finding out that there are over 500 different styles and colors just at Kmart - not to mention Target, Forever 21 or any of the other places I browsed for cheap sandals. No matter what your style, there are definitely cute sandals to be found.

Summer Sandals Under $25

Women's Mossimo Supply Co. Wanette Studded Cage Sandals - Target, $14.99

These cute little flats remind me of the "jellies" I wore as a kid. They feature the same sort of crisscross pattern, only they're not in painful plastic. This updated version features white faux leather dotted with silver studs. Try these out with a pair of cuffed-up jeans, or one of the flouncy knee-length skirts making the rounds this summer.

Summer Sandals Under $25

Acacia Strappy Wedge Sling - Payless, $14.99

These wedges from zoe&zac do something a little different from your average slingback wedge. The entire shoe is eco-friendly, from the organic cotton lining to the recycled rubber sole. The faux leather straps are in various shades of brown, making this a nice shoe to pair with khakis and safari prints.

Summer Sandals Under $25

Route 66 Mercy Hooded Thong Sandal - Kmart, $9.99

These "hooded" sandals are everywhere this season. Slouchy faux suede covers the upper foot and buckles at the ankle, giving a cut-out boot look. The pair pictured is in a mocha color, but I've seen these around in other neutrals and several brights. My only worry is whether these would be too hot.

Summer Sandals Under $25

Merona Collection Zaire Slide Sandals - Target, $8.74

These sandals are almost a polished version of a flip-flop. Featuring slim leather straps across the vamp, these are easy to envision with a 3 inch heel. Instead, there's barely a rise at just half an inch. The swirling green, black and white design make these easy to wear on your most low-key days or to pair with a sundress.

Summer Sandals Under $25

Grecian Braided Strap Sandal - Forever 21, $7.50

Cute, basic and cheap! There's not much to these sandals, which adds to their charm. The thin metallic strap and updated design make these a chic alternative to the flip flop. These would be a great choice to set off a bathing suit with metallic hardware or details.

Summer Sandals Under $25

Ian Zipper Hooded Sandal - Payless, $20.99

Another pair of hooded sandals, this time in faux black leather. These aren't your typical daytime sandals - the 3.5" heel and tough zipper detail scream "Evening only!"

Summer Sandals Under $25

Merona Mardi Buckle Wedge Shoes - Target, $17.48

Perhaps the most conservative sandals on the list, these say "Mother of the Bride." The off-white wedge and gold buckle would pair well with an understated suit or wear well at a summer wedding.

Summer Sandals Under $25

Attention Women's Surf Sandal - Kmart, $12.49

These wedges are available in several colors, from neutrals to summer brights. I prefer the "turquoise" version, which looks more like a stunning peacock blue. The cork wedge offers a slightly different look from your basic jute wedge, and the sling back is elasticized for extra comfort.

Summer Sandals Under $25

Miley Cyrus and Max Azria Studded Gladiator Sandals - Walmart, $6

Another pair of studded sandals, this time in a strappy gladiator shape. Unlike the white pair from Target, these come in black and have dull bronze-y pyramid studs. These look surprisingly comfortable to me - and at $6, can you really go wrong?

Summer Sandals Under $25

Canyon River Blues Tatami Icat Medallion Flip Flop - Kmart, $4.99

What list of sandals would be complete without a pair of flip flops? These aren't your basic throwaway rubber pair, however. The footbed is lined with tatami, a comfortable reed material used most commonly in Japanese mats. The medallion is created from beads in several colors, giving off a subtle Indian DIY charm.
