Super Bowl Potluck Party Themes Ideas:
Deli Tray. The host provides deli meats and condiments, and the guests bring everything else. Things you might ask people to bring include bread, rolls, potato salad, macaroni salad, chips, brownies, and drinks.
Taco Bar. The host provides taco meat and asks guests to bring taco shells, lettuce, diced tomatoes, salsa, sour cream, shredded cheese, tortilla chips, and guacamole.
Picnic. Have your guests bring pasta salad, cole slaw, baked beans, jello salad, and chocolate chip cookies to go with the grilled hot dogs and hamburgers or pulled pork sandwiches that you provide.
Chili Night. Have a two or three people bring pots of chili, and others bring cheese, sour cream, corn chips, corn bread, desserts and drinks; for a hot meal on a cold Super Bowl day.
Big dinner theme. Why not cook a turkey or a ham and have your guests bring all the side dishes? Even though it might seem fancier, sometimes it's cheaper and easier to just go ahead and have a big meal. Ask guests to bring mashed potatoes, salad, rolls, hot vegetables, stuffing, and pies for dessert.
Junk Food Theme: This is probably my favorite! First, I love junk food, and second, it's easy to coordinate because anything goes. Potato chips and dip, pizza, chicken wings, candy, Cheetos- it's all good.
Italian Night: Make a big pot meatballs and sauce, and have friends bring sausage, macaroni, tossed salad, garlic bread, greens and beans, and red wine.
Stone Soup. If you remember the story of stone soup, it's where no one had enough to make soup, but when every one combined their ingredients they were able to make delicious soup. Try this for a Super Bowl potluck. Have each person bring one item for the soup pot and one item other item like drinks, crackers, bread, cheese, or dessert.
Heavy hors d'oeuvres: Mini sandwiches or a tray of sliced wraps, hot dips, bread boat dips, and a cheese and pepperoni tray are just some options here. This is the type of food that you really fill up on, so you might as well just skip the meal and have all snacks.
Healthy Foods: (Yeah, right. Who wants to do this?) Seriously, there are people who don't want to blow their diets just because it's Super Bowl, and who says you can't eat healthy and still have a good time? Load up on fresh vegetable platters, low fat cheese, fruit salad, and low-fat turkey on a diet wrap.
When you plan a Super Bowl potluck party, remember to plan for drinks, paper plates and cups, and plastic silverware. Whatever theme you decide on- have a ball!
