Eric Church is one of the hottest country singers on the radio today. He recently released his third studio album, Chief. Here's a look at a few things you might not know about the artist:

His first hit: "Love Your Love the Most" was Eric Church's first song to make country radio's top ten.

Why country rules: He loves country music because he believes it represents Middle America the best.

On Lotta Boot Left to Fill: Eric Church told the Washington Post that other artists would have been scared to release "Lotta Boot Left to Fill" which is critical of others in the country music industry.

Likes: Metallica and Maroon 5 are some non-country artists that the singer likes.

Rocking it: As a country artist, he played Lollapalooza and felt that he and his band rocked harder than the rock and rollers. In fact, he went on to describe most of the rock bands there as "bad Queen".

Education:
The star graduated from Appalachian University with a marketing degree. But he told EW that his main education while attending college was playing music in the bars because that's where he learned to work a crowd full of drunk people.

Traits: Eric Church describes himself as being stubborn.

Eric Church on writing: "The key to songwriting is just to be able to observe, and put yourself in situations to be around people, and let those ideas come to you."

Homeboys: He is good friends with fellow stars Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley.

On cowboy hats: The singer doesn't wear cowboy hats because he doesn't think he could pull off wearing one since he's just simply not a cowboy.
