10 Things We Should Bring Back

Simple Life Pleasures that Have Lost Their Luster that We Should Bring Back

Jim Kelly
We've all had our childhood memories and they all will last throughout our lifetime. The problem is, that that's all that they become, is memories. I was born in 1988 and have a ton of memories from the 1990's that I would love to see brought back, as well as things that occurred before my time that I want a chance to live through. These are some experiences that I want all generations to have, because they are just simple pleasures that our society has forgotten.

1. Good meals. No one can cook a home cooked meal like mom. Today everything seems to be pre-made or delivered or fast food. It's all garbage to me, I want those home cooked meals with a family sit down that includes multiple helpings.

2. Old Nickelodeon Shows. Let's face it, these new shows on Nick just aren't as good as Salute Your Shorts and Are You Afraid of the Dark. bring back the old Nick, bring back Doug and the Rugrats.

3. Vinyl records. I know with the advancement in technology that they're pretty much extinct and probably not the best quality. But a fine collection of vinyls is still the sexiest thing on the planet.

4. Listening to the radio. We all have mp3 players and CD players in our cars now and no one seems to tune into a radio station and listen to any new music. If you're driving down the highway and get bored of what you're listening to, pop on a station that plays local tunes, and learn to love it.

5. Sleeping. We as a society just don't get enough of it. How amazing does it feel to sleep in on Saturday mornings and watch cartoons as you eat a bowl of cereal. It will really bring you back to first grade.

6. Sideburns. Yeah, I want them back I don't care what you think. Sideburns are still the coolest thing going as long as you know how to wear them. Don't go overboard, just the casual everyday sideburns work, unless you can pull something better off. Just get rid of the chinstrap, please.

7. The outdoors. Go camping instead of watching a movie with your girl one night. You'll have the fire going, you're cuddled up in a blanket under the stars. Bring your lab for protection too and some company if you don't have a girl.

8. Talking to mom. It really is great, she may nag and beg and complain but come on she made you, listen. You will never regret all those lessons she taught you, believe me.

9. Clint Eastwood movies. Yeah Gran Torino was pretty good, but watch The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. One of the best movies ever made, period.

10. Yo-yos. These toys can occupy your time like no other. It will gain you a valuable party skill and will get you off your chair and away from the TV for a little bit too at least.

Extra: Push-ups. Where have they gone?
