10 Things to Do While Visiting London, England

London, England is one of the world's foremost cities. London is England's capital, and the United Kingdom's, as well. It is also the largest city in England and the United Kingdom. Nearly 8 million people call London home, and over 14 million people make up the London metro area. London started out as Londinium, and was founded by the Roman Empire. Today, London is a center for education, the arts, and much, much, more.

National Gallery

National Gallery is a major art gallery located in London, England. It is the main focal point of the Trafalgar Square piazza. National Gallery features many Western European paintings. Some of the arts who have paintings here are da Vinci, Van Gogh, Constable, Cezanne, Canaletto, Caravaggio, Stubbs, and Titian.

London Wetland Centre

London Wetland Centre is located in London, England. It is home to a cafe, a visitor's center, children's adventure area, and a theater. That's not including the main attraction: 105 acres of reedbeds and marshes, and beautiful lakes. This in turn attracts a wide variety of wild animals.

Arcola Theatre

Arcola Theatre is located in London, England. The Arcola Theatre features a well-known green program. Bottle recycling, international green theater partnerships, and using hydrogen fuel cell to power LED lighting are just a few activities done at the Arcola Theatre. The theater is also known for it's plays, comedy, and music.

Changing the Guard

No trip to London, England is complete without seeing Changing the Guard. It is done daily at Buckingham Palace. One of the Queen's Guards goes on duty while the other one goes off duty. The entire thing is set to music, and the guards wear their traditional uniforms.

Kenwood House

Kenwood House is located in London, England. It is one of the most opulent of the city's gorgeous homes. The house is located on the edge of Hampstead Heath, and features beautiful white stucco facades. It also has one of the best libraries in the world outside of an actual library. Also featured are paintings by Vermeer, Turner, and Reynolds, as well as a few other well-known painters.

Geffrye Museum

The Geffrye Museum is located in London, England. It is one of the more unique museums in the world. It offers a look into the domestic lives of city residents in the 1600s to the current day. The focal point is the British middle classes. Explore furnishings and decor from each era. Also featured is an herb garden.

Petrus

Petrus is a restaurant that is located in London, England. Petrus is owned by Gordon Ramsay, one of the most famous chefs in the world. It features more than 2,000 bottles of wine. Some of the menu items at Petrus are baked line-caught sea bass, and fillet of Angus beef.

Hampton Court Palace

Hampton Court Palace is located in London, England. It was the most prominent residence of King Henry VIII. He proposed to Jane Seymour here. All of his wives stayed at Hampton Court Palace. It features a garden maze, and over 500 years of the history of the English Royal Family.

The Tower of London

The Tower of London is one of the foremost buildings in the history of England. The Tower of London is over 900 years old. In it's history, it has been used as a zoo, a fortress, a palace, a prison, and a place of execution. Today, the Crown Jewels are held in the Tower of London.

Harrods

No shopping buff should leave London without first visiting Harrods. Harrods is one of the best known department stores in the entire world. Harrods features seven floors of all the shopping excitement one could possibly want. Everything from toys to jewelry to electronics are sold at Harrods.
