Number 10 - Head to the lounge. If you are a member of the American Airlines Admirals Club or United Airlines Red Carpet Club you'll find comfortable, quite lounges specifically for you located on the mezzanine level.
Number 9 - Do a crossword puzzle. When's the last time you've actually had time to sit down and do a crossword puzzle? Probably not in a while. You'll enjoy the mental challenge while your waiting.
Number 8 - People watch. One of my favorite things to do is people watch and what better place then to do this than at John Wayne Airport. You'll see people from all walks of life here.
Number 7 - Catch up on your emails. If you've got your iPhone or Blackberry, catch up on all those emails piling up in your inbox. Being productive while waiting is always a great thing.
Number 6 - Grab a bite to eat. Though not a big offering of places to eat, John Wayne Airport does have several selections. You'll find Starbucks, McDonald's, Gibson Guitar Lounge, Creative Croissants, Sports Page Pub, Brioche Dorée Café & Bakery and Oasis Grill & Sky Lounge throughout Terminals A and B.
Number 5 - Make a friend. There are always people sitting around bored out of their minds waiting for their flights. Strike up a conversation with a friendly traveler. You may meet a life long friend. But be prepared for those not so friendly rebuffs.
Number 4 - Catch up on the latest entertainment gossip. You know those newsstand magazines that are always shouting the latest entertainment gossip? Purchase one of those at Hudson News located on the concourse. They're a quick read and always good for a laugh.
Number 3 - Exercise. Take a stroll around the terminal to stretch your legs before your flight. You'll feel refreshed and relaxed as well.
Number 2 - View the ongoing art exhibit located in the terminal. The Airport Arts Program presents museum quality exhibitions throughout the year. The Vi Smith Concourse Gallery is located on the departure level between gates 11 and 15 in the north concourse.
And the number 1 thing to do while waiting for your flight at John Wayne Airport - Take a photo with John Wayne. Yes, that's right. There is a very large (9 feet tall) statue of John Wayne in front of the Eddie Martin Terminal located on the arrival level. So saddle on up and grab a photo with the Duke.
There you have it, a list of 10 things to do at John Wayne Airport. Just remember not to get so engrossed in all these activities that you miss your flight.

Post a CommentI like the ideas of exercising and people watching. :-)
I once had a friend that used to roll pennies into the terminal walkway to see people pick up or pass up...even used to make bets with friends on who would pick it up! Would you believe he met SPIKE LEE doing this very thing? ha. Article made me think of that and smile. Hadn't thought of it in years. :)
All great ideas. If your wait is long enough, you might just get to them all.
I love crosswords and I am a people watcher anyway. Wouldn't need a pic. with the "Duke", but this is a very good report.
I really like the "make a friend" tip. We never know when God may actually let us help make a new brother or a new sister in the Lord, or perhaps entertain an angel. Smiles..
I think I'll go just to kill an afternoon, these all sound so relaxing. Great idea for a story Cynthia.
How cool to take a photo with The Duke while waiting for your flight!! Fun article!
Better than sitting around in frustration:)
Or, if you are like the guy who was stranded in our Newark Airport, break out your guitar and have a sing-along of the Beatles "Hey Jude" with all of the other irate passengers! Cheers, good article!
I don't think I will ever need this info, but it is very good advice.
