First verify the baby's temperature, this is very important because he can't tell you and maybe is crying because is not feeling well. Verify the diaper, a wet diaper is not very comfort and being happy is very difficult. Is your baby hungry? Feed him and see what happens. By taking care of these tree aspects first then you can use other ways to calm your baby that low down the crying and screaming. Patience is an important factor here, this will allow you to search for a solution that works and avoids running to the grandmother for help.
- Talk to your baby all the time: No matter if he doesn't pay attention first, it will show results in the long run. Never scream back to the crying or screaming baby.
- Give your baby a bath: Some babies love to take a bath specially if you bring some toys and play with him of course. Use a lavender body wash product that helps in calming the baby.
- Sing with your baby: Singing to your baby is one of the best things you can do to calm it down. In many cases is more effective if you start to sing before he start to scream to distract his attention.
- Give your baby a ride: A ride in the car expose the baby to new sound and distracts him with a new environment. The air conditioning may cause the baby a goof sleep time so the parents can finally talk without the cries and screams.
- Use a sound music toy: This is very effective in some cases preventing the crying, it distracts him. Same effects can be accomplished when the screaming starts by using the vacuum cleaner, hair dryer or a water fountain.
- A good massage: This can relax you baby's body and give you some time close to him.
- Use a teether: When the teething symptoms arrive the screaming and crying increases. Products to soothe the baby's gum.
- Give him playing or distracting time: Don't leave the baby all day in the crib he needs to move and see all around. Leaving him in the crib can be boring.
- Verify the diaper: Maybe the diaper is too tight and has a lot of discomfort.
- Over stimulation: Don't play in excess with him or don't let him be handled by a lot of people. This can cause the baby to irritate and cry a lot.
Always visit the baby's doctor regularly to check that everything is all right. Taking care of a baby can be a stressful task but if live and patience is on the air all things can be managed, including a screaming baby.
