10 Tips to Be a Cool Mom

We all wish the best for our babies and this is a natural reaction. Doing so will often tend to get stressed. Learn to relax and be happy! Here are a few ideas that will help you make your life easier!

Time for yourself

Begin your day with a maximum dose of adrenaline, get up 20 or 30 minutes before everyone else to take your coffee and quietly read a magazine: this will be truly set you in a calmer mood when being alone during the day.

Exchange services for school trips

At the nursery, the nursery or kindergarten, your child has friends and girlfriends who live near you. From the beginning, contact neighbouring mothers and organize days in collecting their children too. This exchange service will save you all, precious time!

Integrate with other mothers in the park

Instead of being alone in the park on your bench; break the ice with other moms who bring their children to play. Try to integrate with those mothers who have children with the same age group as that of your child. Make compliments and share lunches with them. Then start talking about issues that concern children. Exchange their mobile phone numbers and ask for the time that they go to the park. You can also call a friend in for coffee or for a chat.

Take breaks for your child

On returning exhausted from work you can find your little one waiting for you outside your door. Put yourself in his place! First thing to do is to put away your work and give your child your full attention. Secondly share some good time to play together, discuss, hug, talk and enjoy your child. This will surely act as a break for you also. Housework can wait!

Leaving to stay barefoot

Allow your child to walk barefoot on the grass in the sand on the carpet and even on the floor tiles. Without knowing you will be relieved from stress like when asking "Where are your shoes? Go put on your shoes!" Anyway, staying barefoot is good for learning to walk and developing the muscles of the foot!

Preparing food in long strips

When eating try to cut fruits and vegetables in long strips as children prefer to eat using their fingers. Cut in small portions food like cheese and cereal bars remembering to give them a wet and clean cloth in order to wipe their hands and face.

Rest even when the baby does not sleep

Sometimes you feel an irresistible urge to lay, not really to take a nap but to rest for a few minutes. Here are some ideas to distract you in relaxing. Lay on your back, lift your knees to a comfortable backrest and on to the seat in front of you. Sing nursery rhymes if necessary, hide behind a pillow, give him a magazine to flip or make some soap bubbles and try to catch them. In doing so you will be taking a little break and relaxing.

Long live the TV!

As is well known, lunch or dinner with the television turned on distracts family life! But we know too well that eating together, sitting tight on the couch before a TV set to watch a cartoon is something to cherish with. Try to create rituals for Saturday evenings or Sunday evenings for example to watch a movie together and to take a light snack in order to avoid cooking.

Spend Quite Weekends!

Does your child have friends who are the only child in the family? Great! To compensate for the absence of brothers and sisters, their parents will certainly be happy to invite your child over for the weekend. The idea is that their kids will not feel alone and do not suffer from not knowing the great pleasures of siblings. Of course, you will invite them back. After all, another child at your house does not change your organisation for the weekend and will not make a difference.

Sunday, all on bubble

Why not stay in your pyjamas until noon if you want on Sundays? On Sunday, it's a day where you do nothing but relax. If you sleep in, do not be bothered to prepare a Sunday lunch prepare a brunch! Toasted sandwiches, orange juice, scrambled eggs, ham, fresh fruit, milk, and cheese will do just the same!
