Freak Out Your Friends Without Killing Your Bank Account

Sabrina Young
You can still look freaky and downright horrifying this Halloween without killing your credit card bills! How? Well, try some of these extremely creative Halloween makeup tips. These Halloween makeup tips make use of things that you might already have around the house or can purchase at the nearest dollar store.

Halloween Makeup Tip #1: Bloody flesh
If you want to imitate shreds of bloody flesh, the easiest thing to do is to use beef jerky. Want to imitate a murderous slasher? Glue large shreds of beef jerky onto a butcher knife for a handy Halloween costume accessory.

Halloween Makeup Tip #2: Oozing bloody brains
An easy Halloween makeup tip is to buy a jar of chunky strawberry jam. Right before you leave the house, dump the entire jar of oozing strawberry jelly on your head and body for some seriously sticky, oozing bloody fun.

Halloween Makeup Tip #3: Fake blood
Follow this easy Halloween costume makeup tip recipe to create fake blood. Take a jar of clear corn syrup, and add several drops of red food coloring and one drop of blue food coloring to the corn syrup. Add red food coloring to get the blood color desired. Remember, fresh blood is a bright red color, alien blood can be blue or purple, and blood from a deep wound will be almost black in color.

Halloween Makeup Tip #4: Green alien ooze Halloween makeup
For this fun Halloween costume makeup tip, visit your local dollar store's hair gel aisle. Usually the dollar store will have jars of hair gel hidden on the bottom shelf. The hair gel colors can be anything from blue to green to grotesque brown. Buy a few jars of nasty hair gel and cover your body with the gooey ooze. Watch out for fumes, though, some of these gels can have a really nasty odor!

Halloween Makeup Tip #5: Period Halloween costume makeup
You do not have to spend hundreds of dollars to dress authentically this Halloween. Visit your local thrift shop like the Salvation Army or Goodwill and spend $5 on clothing that can make you look like anyone from Cleopatra to pirate Jack Sparrow to an evil alien.

Halloween Makeup Tip #6: Cheap Halloween face makeup
Check out your local thrift shop a month or two before Halloween for extremely cheap prices on Halloween makeup. Make sure your Halloween makeup is unopened. Also check out the dollar store for equally cheap prices on Halloween makeup.

Halloween Makeup Tip #7: Make your own face makeup
All you need to make your own Halloween makeup is some face cream and food coloring. Add food coloring to the face cream, mix with a spoon, and apply using Q-tips. This kind of Halloween makeup is good only for an hour or two, but it is great Halloween makeup for kids!

Halloween Makeup Tip #8: Cheap and easy Halloween hair dye
If you are lucky enough to have lighter hair, you can easily dye your hair using Kool-aid or any other type of colorful fruit punch. The dye will stay in your hair for the night, then will start running out when your hair gets wet. Experiment with zany colors like blue or red or green for some Halloween makeup fun!

Halloween Makeup tip #9: Making wrinkles and easy scars
For this easy Halloween makeup tip, all you need is a dark lip pencil. Scrunch up your face in the mirror and draw lines for every natural crease in your face. Slightly smudge the wrinkles with your pinky to make them look a little more natural. You can also create easy Halloween Frankenstein scars by drawing a jagged line across your forehead or cheek and then crosshatching it with lines.

Halloween Makeup tip #10: Gray hair and easy aging
For an easy way to age yourself follow this cheap and easy Halloween face makeup tip. For a slightly grayed look, add baby powder to your temples and roots. If you want to age dramatically, cover your entire head with baby powder, being sure to apply it as evenly and naturally as possible. Be sure to do this outside or in an easy to clean room like the bathroom. After applying the baby powder to your hair, shake your head a few times to let the spare powder fall to the ground. Add a few wrinkles and perhaps some yellow Halloween face makeup for a sallow look, and enjoy the new old you!
