10 Tips to Save Petrol / Gas : Go Green!
10 Simple Tips You Could Follow to Save Petrol / Gas. Follow These Tips to Save Petrol And, Go Green Today!
Let's go through a few such changes that you can make to reduce fuel consumption:
1. The easiest thing you can do to save petrol, is to avoid those sudden starts and stops. Accelerate and decelerate slowly, while you start the car, increase the speed and apply the break. This helps increase the carburetor's efficiency.
2. While traveling long distances, check on Google Map or use your GPS, and take the shortest route. This reduces petrol consumption for sure!
3. You can also save petrol by getting regular tune ups done. This is important so that your car is utilizing petrol efficiently.
4. Don't idle your car engine for any duration that is more than 30-45 seconds. This again helps save petrol. So while you are stuck in a traffic jam and if it is possible, just turn off the engine.
5. The fuel consumption of a car normally increases below 50km/hrs and, also above 90km/hrs. Stick to speed limits not just to drive safely, but also to save petrol.
6. Use air-conditioning wisely and save petrol. Using air-conditioning obviously increases petrol consumption. But so doesaerodynamic drag. What does this mean? At lower speeds, you can keep windows open instead of using the AC. But at speeds in the order of 80 km/hrs + , the open windows increase aerodynamic drag and so, fuel consumption goes up. This is when you need to use your AC, and roll up the windows.
7. Check the tire pressure regularly and save petrol. If the tire is not inflated to the max., the rolling resistance/friction increases. This again means that the car uses more petrol when you hit the road.
8. Don't rev up the engine unnecessarily. Yet another easy tip to reduce fuel consumption, is it not?
9. Carpool as much as possible. If you have to go grocery shopping or get to work, why not start carpooling? It helps you spend time with friends and saves petrol too!
10. Finally get your share of exercise- walk, jog and ride a bike for short distances.

All Great Ideas!!
The weather has been so good here lately that I want to walk..Thanks for these tips!
Thank you so much for these wise tips. Another tip would be to not do any unnecesary driving. Gone are the days when I could go to town to get a soda just because I am bored. I spend a lot more time at home working on the computer now. I'm so frugal (cheap LOL)that my carbon footprint is about the size of a baby foot.
More good advice that helps us out and helps the planet out as well. I'm going to review these to make sure I'm in compliance with my own, personal standards. Well done friend. : - )
I tried not to have a car at all here in NC, but it didn't work out very well. My area is not easily walkable, and public transportation is not good either. So I have a car now, which means I can make good use of these tips!
Great advice, and I stick to most of this. The problem with traffic jams and shutting off the engine is that here in England most of the drive to work is a traffic jam. It's slow with a constant stop/start (does that make sense?) and it's hard to use less gas. I am fortunate that I drive an automatic, which although it might use more gas, doesn't require me to clutch/de-clutch and rev up every time I move and then stop again.
thnaks for the advice, we all need it these days! i'm about to drive 5 hours myself. :) jeffrey
Good advice as usual, Rox!
I wish I lived somewhere I could walk places more easily. At least now I can walk to Target and the mall!
