10 Tips to Speed Up Laptop: Computer Essentials Part I
This is Part 1 from the Computer Essentials Series. 10 Tips to Speed Up Laptop
10 ways to speed up laptop computers.
1.Speed up laptop computers by defragmenting your Hard Disk Drive (HDD) at least twice a month. Over time, data that is stored on the HDD gets fragmented and stored at random locations. When the processor needs to fetch data, it has to search more memory locations to present the file to the user. So defragmenting your Hard Disk Drive (HDD) regularly helps speed up laptop PCs.
2. Speed up laptop computers by uninstalling programs that you don't use like games and old images. Make more space on the HDD to speed up laptop PCs.
3. Don't clutter your desktop with too many shortcuts, as each takes up about 400-500 bytes of RAM. This adds up in time.
4. Updated anti-virus software must run on your computer at all times. I have tried Norton, AVG, Mcafee, eSat and a few more. Avast is the best among free AVs. Viruses don't help speed up laptop computers, and I don't need to tell you that. (wink)
5. Speed up laptop computersby running Anti-malware programs like Malwarebytes' to sniff out the malware and quarantine it.
6. To reduce the risk of downloading malware from the internet, keep the security level of your web browser at the maximum level. This too helps speed up laptop computers.
7. Another super simple tip to speed up laptop computers is to clear the web browser cache frequently. Clearing the Temporary Internet Files folder or cache of your web browser, helps free up space on the HDD.
8. Do you have enough RAM on your PC? Speed up laptop computers by getting a larger RAM. This way, more memory is available for multi-tasking (which it does all the time).
9. Speed up laptop PCs by ending unnecessary processes. Bring up the 'Task Manager' by pressing 'Ctrl+Alt+Del'and then, go to the 'Processes' tab. Check the local service and system processes that are of no use. If you end a wrong process, restart the computer. Voila! your PC is back to the way it was.
10. The last resort to speed up laptop computers is to reformat your Hard Drive. Back up all your important files and data, before you reformat your HDD. Reformatting means, restoring the factory settings.
