Tips & Tricks:
1. Delete an Item permanently without using the Recycle Bin. Click the item you want deleted once which will highlight the item & hold down your shift key and hit the delete key. This will ask you to delete the item click yes. The item is not moved to your recycle been its deleted permanently.
2. Switch between Windows easier. This is easily done by holding down Alt then hitting tab to switch between each program that is open.
3. Switch between Tabs in Internet Explorer. By now we are mostly all using the new Internet Explorer and the tabs feature. Let's say you have multiple tab's opened and you do not want to have to click each tab you can simply go thru each tab by holding down Ctrl & hitting tab for each new window.
4. Increase your mouse speed by using the feature under Control Panel. Click the icon named Mouse & change the Pointer speed to faster or slower depending on how you like your mouse set. You can also change how quick a mouse opens or closes.
5. Create multiple User accounts to keep kids out of your files or programs. This can be done by going to Control Panel & click, User Accounts. From there you will be able to make users as Administrators or Guest access levels depending on what you want them to access.
6. Windows Vista users can change the way the system keep asking for permission on every little thing done, Such as install a program. Do you want to install? The messages get very irritating at times and they can be easily disabled by going to Control Panel, Click User Accounts, Click Turn Off or On User Account Control. Click that then turn it off. You will no longer be asked for it.
7. Create a Shut down Icon on desktop to easily Shutdown your computer when you are finished using it! This can be done by right clicking your desktop and click New, and then Short Cut. And add the following "shutdown -s" without the quotes. You can later change the icon by right clicking and going to properties, & Click change Icon.
8. Use Msconfig to clean up items that start with the computer does! Click Start & go to Run then type Msconfig. Once that loads you can click start up and uncheck any items that do not belong on start. You can do the same with services just make sure you have the check mark checked that says hide Microsoft Services.
9. Use System Restore if your system is running slow or messing up this can be done by going to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. It is probably a good idea to make some restore points every week or so, that way if your system messes up you can restore it to that time and day.
10. Last but not least run a scan on your hard drive to make sure that there are no bad sectors. This is needed so your hard drive does not crash and it protects your system from failures. You can do this by going to My Computer, Right Clicking the main drive & going to Tools, Check now for errors.
