New Year's Resolution #1 - purposefully look for ways to do good for others. Usually resolutions are about things to change for you. Sometimes the best way to change you is to help others. Spend some time getting to know people and see how you can help make their resolutions get resolved.
New Year's Resolution #2 - find new ways to save money. In a day and age when everyone is screaming "recession" it is obvious that not every one is a part of it. Some people are doing well, in fact thriving, in this current economy. You can be one of these people. Clip coupons, sign up for emails from your favorite stores, try different brands, don't waste things, recycle... these are just a few ways you can save and invest for the future.
New Year's Resolution #3 - be on time. This is one of my pet peeves so I can't stress this enough. Not only is being on time considerate to other people, it is a measure of excellence. If you want to get ahead, you have to be on time.
New Year's Resolution #4 - show people you love them more. Don't just say, "I love you," show it. Actions are words brought to life. What you do is a reflection of what you say. It's not difficult to show people you love them.
New Year's Resolution #5 - let go of the past. The biggest enemy of the future is the past. Learn from the successes and mistakes you've made in the past, but don't dwell on either one. Hanging on to old successes can be just as dragging to your future as holding on to the mistakes.
New Year's Resolution #6 - say "no" every once in a while. I'm not advocating that "no" is the new "yes," or anything crazy like that. I'm only saying take time for you. You don't have to be at everyone's beck-and-call; others can do what you do (perhaps better).
New Year's Resolution #7 - learn how to cook. Couples take some time to pull out those pots and pans you got as a wedding gift and use them. Singles, get some recipes under your belt before you get married. Whatever status you're in, you have to eat and canned food or Ramen noodles should not be on the menu everyday.
New Year's Resolution #8 - go to bed on time. If you don't get a minimum of six hours of sleep you are doing your body a disservice. I'm sure some would recommend eight, but that may not be realistic for everyone at their season of life. I do believe that six is doable at any level though.
New Year's Resolution #9 - keep your car clean. You may need to invest in a small car vacuum cleaner that you can attach to the ash tray or other outlet in your vehicle. Oftentimes we focus on the exterior of the car more than the interior. Place mats on your floors for those winter seasons. Get your car detailed once a quarter if you can.
New Year's Resolution #10 - find a new TV show to get into. In a world where most cable packages exceed 100 channels, sometimes we can get locked into typical shows. If you have a cable bundle with a DVR included you can easy tape your typical shows while watching something new. You may find some new favorites.
