If you belong to a new church or even a church that is growing, it's always good to have a newsletter or bulletin. This will inform other church goers of any people that may be in the hospital or any up and coming news or events. This day and age it can even be set up by email. Requesting them to save stamps and money could easily be done by a greeter.
If your church doesn't have a website, it might be a good idea to look into creating one. Publishing the churches mission, and sermons is a great way to spread the word of God.
You can volunteer your time teaching at your church. You can also volunteer your time in the summer for your church's VBS. Churches always need volunteers for all kinds of events sadly not many of them speak up. Some great help given by volunteers is babysitting for those on the dance team, choir, band, prayer warriors and any other service your church members may attend.
If your church has a large group children and teens, you can put on productions for holidays. Parents love to video their kids in plays and often place them online, thus spreading the word of God even more!
Join the choir or dance team! Both of these can be fun and very beneficial to you and the church. It will create a new relationship with those already in the choir and or dance team. This can be very hard to do though if you are a mother of young kids because it takes a lot of your time for practice.
Raise money for your church! Have a bake sale, bargain sale, fund raiser, car wash, or craft sale. You can even put on a free concert and sell refreshments.
When you have VBS, spread word about it! Create signs and place them on busy or main streets. Create flyers and pass them out and place them on bulletin boards. Spread word about VBS to school kids and their parents. You can also create a car pool to help promote new people to attend. This car pool idea works for Sunday services too, as some members may not be able to afford to go to church and work.
Have your church offer to handle wake services. Most churches already do this for their members, but some don't even think about it. It can be a great way to raise funds as well as show how loving a church and its members are. Members can make a list of items they can bring, create or donate.
Donate materials to your church. Check with your church as to what they may need. Like toys for the nursery, diapers, bottles, and possibly craft supplies.
A church is meant to help the less fortunate; many times churches overlook their own members. There is always a family struggling, they may be too embarrassed to say anything, and they may be trying very hard to not make it obvious. Making a meal or two sure can help a lot, especially around the holiday season.
