10 Ways to Use Dryer Sheets

Don't Throw Away Those Used Dryer Sheets

Sharon Morris
Most of us use dryer sheets when we are drying clothes to keep our clothes smelling fresh and to prevent static electricity but I bet you didn't know there are other uses for dryer sheets as well. Here are 10 things you can do with dryer sheets.

Use Dryer Sheets to keep bugs away

Put them in the pockets of your clothes or uniforms to keep bees and yellow jackets away. Use them all the time when playing or working outdoors. The bees and yellow jackets just fly away from them.

You can also lay a sheet where you see ants and it repels them. To keep mosquitoes away, tie a sheet through your belt loop when outside, it repels them also.

Use Dryer Sheets to Repel Mice

Lay dryer sheets around foundation areas, in trailers, or in cars that are sitting and it keeps mice away.

Use Dryer Sheets to Get rid of Odor

One way to get rid of that unwanted odor in books and photo albums is by placing a sheet in between the pages or photos.

You can also place a dryer sheet in musty smelling sneakers over night to get rid of the smell.

Place a dryer sheet in a drawer or a closet to keep your home smelling fresh. Also place one in a musty suitcase before storing to keep them fresh.

Try placing a dryer sheet under the seat of your car to keep it smelling clean and fresh.

Eliminate odor from your waste baskets by placing a sheet at the bottom.

Keep dirty laundry from stinking up your laundry room by putting a sheet in the bottom of the hamper or basket.

Place a dryer sheet inside a vacuum cleaner to automatically freshen the air while you vacuum.

Eliminate Static Electricity

Since dryer sheets are designed to eliminate static electricity, wipe your T.V's and computer screens with one to keep dust from resettling.

Prevent Thread from Tangling

Run a threaded needle through a dryer sheet before beginning to sew to prevent from tangling.

Clean Baked-on Grease

Put a dryer sheet in a dirty baking pan, fill it with water and let it set overnight. The next day sponge clean and it should come right off. The anti-static agent weakens the bond between the food and the pan.

Get Rid of Unwanted Cat and Dog Hair

Rub a dryer sheet where there is dog and cat hair to magnetically attract all of those loose hairs.

Wipe Up Sawdust

Use a dryer sheet to wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used dryer sheet will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.

I hope you enjoy these great and unique ways to use those dryer sheets. I got these tips from an email a friend sent me and decided to put it into an article for all of you. Now you will never want to throw those used dryer sheets away!

Great article! Dryer sheets are also great for putting in tents before folding them and putting them away - this way when you pull them out next time they smell freash instead of stale. Thanks for the great info!

Heather, believe me, I know all about cat and dog hair! I have 5 dogs, 2 are inside and I have 3 outside cats. I just swept up a bunch of dog hair a little while ago. They are shedding bad now and my husband is having allergy problems! Thanks for reading and commenting. I'm glad you like it. :)
