10 Ways to Get Healthier and Lose Weight

Studies show that people who eat cereal for breakfast are healthier, thinner, and lose weight quicker than people who eat hot meals. I know those flapjacks and ham steaks can be calling your name, but honestly those foods will only give momentary happiness. Turning the foods down will make you mentally stronger, proud of yourself, and as the pounds shed you will feel more confident in yourself.

Cereal companies are getting more competitive by the day as to what their product offer. Many cereals offer multiple vitamins, whole grain and low fat. Cereals can lower cholesterol, heart healthy and some such as special k even have a diet plan. I tried the special k diet and within 3 days I felt better about my body. It is a two day diet of eating two bowls of special k, healthy snacks and a meal. When I want to lose a couple pounds I always hop on this diet first.

Turn Down Mouth Hungers

Feeling hungry? Are you sure? There are two kinds of hungers according to science. There are mouth hungers and stomach hungers. Mouth hungers is like a sweet tooth. You don't NEED to eat that cupcake, but the taste in your mouth is BEGGING you to eat it. Stomach hungers are when your body says it is time to eat.

If you stick to answering those stomach hungers and avoiding those mouth hungers you will avoid gaining excessive weight.

Get Active

If you want to get healthy in a healthy way then it is important to change your routine. That includes eating and actions. Working out often leaves a dieter discouraged, well don't work out at the gym. Join a team, get a hobby, or take a strip aerobics. Have fun when you get active. If you don't like fun then do something for the community, volunteer to pick up trash on the freeway.

Fruits And Veggies Over Meat

I know that meat is the most awesome thing, but it isn't the healthiest choice. Although fruits tend to be high in sugars they will not clog your arteries and pad your body with excessive fat. When you have the chance, choose that apple over the steak. An apple has more energy than a cup of coffee that will get you hyped up to run a mile...while a steak may have you so tired you want to sleep an hour.

Save Desserts For DESSERT

Candy bars, cupcakes, suckers...we love those and eat them without thinking too much of it. Don't snack on dessert like sweets. Don't snack on sweets AT ALL. Save dessert for DESSERT. Eat dessert after dinner and not the middle of the day. Why? After dinner you are full and will barely have enough room for dessert.

I only eat dessert when I deserve it. If you have cheated on your diet all day and stayed home to watch The Hills Marathon then you weren't eating right or being active. You deserve no dessert. If you are ALWAYS dedicated to your diet I'd suggest eating dessert every other day. Those little treats can pack on the pounds of unhappiness and self-loathing quickly.

Whole Grains

White bread is great right? Only in taste. Whole grains are much healthier for you and they make you go take a poopie which ultimately leads to you losing weight in the toilet. Which kind of makes you a toilet dieter...it sounds yucky but is so true.

Kill Your Fears From Negative Thoughts

We all know that we are our own worst enemy. We are afraid of being successful, happy, and glamorous. 100% of the time be aware of the fact that you are your worse enemy. Don't give in to your negative comments; don't be afraid to be happy. Diets are hard, your brain will make it seem impossible to stick to, but if you do stick to it then you will be so happy with the outcome and much stronger.

You Are What You Eat, Please Don't Be Crap

We are what we eat? Does that mean you're a pig, a cow, a strawberry frosted cupcake? If someone loved to eat pig, ate pig day, evening and night I would not be surprised if they were shaped like a pig. A pig is a fat animal; a cow is a fat animal. If we eat fat animals what makes us think we won't be fat? What about those hot chips you ate during lunch? Did they do anything GOOD for your body? Did your mouth hunger say "give me hot chips"? Write down what you eat in a day, those things don't reflect who you are but they reflect how you're body is going to look, how others will perceive and unfortunately treat you.

During rough times like finals, I ate quick foods like chips. I wondered why I gained weight a lot then. It occurred to me I wasn't looking at what I was eating. I didn't realize it was corn meal and vegetable oil, but also I ate straight from the bag. It is important to know what you're eating and HOW MUCH you are eating. I know eating chips in a bowl will mean more dishes, but it will also control how much you take in your body.

Cheat a Little

Don't cheat everyday, but cheating on your diet a LITTLE can increase your chances of having a more successful diet and being happier. Telling yourself "no" a million and one times is going to only make you upset and unhappy to be on the diet. Cheat 1-2 a week, but do small cheats. Instead of eating a cake a cheat just eat a slice.

Keep Track

Sometimes it is hard to tell when a diet is working. You didn't notice the pounds gradually sneak up on you, so how can you notice them falling off? To see how successful a diet is measure your weight or measurements everyday. Keep a diary of what you eat so that you'll know when some food is not good for your weight. This also increases chances of a successful diet, because when you're slobbering on the McDonalds window at the menu in your head you'll think "I already lost 3 lbs, do I really want to go ruin my hard work?"
