10 Worst on Screen Couples of All Time

BAD, Bad Couples We Don't Want to See EVER Again!

KRM
#1 Worst Couple: David Krumholtz (Charlie Eppes) and Navi Rawat (Amita Ramanujan)
Movie or Show: Numb3rs
Problem: When asked how they feel about Charlie and Amita, many Numbers fans mention that while they are intelligent characters, the chemistry is not believable. And though this may be attributed to their station and an awkwardness surrounding intellect and social interaction, it needs addressed that plenty of intelligent couples have warmth for one another. This couple can be described in one word: icy. And it's not for lack of trying on the part of Krumholtz. It is clear he attempts an awkward, boyish affection for the character Amita, which sadly is lost between the two actors.

AWFULLY Embarrassing Couple: Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker) and Natalie Portman (Padme)
Movie or Show: Star Wars Episode II Revenge of the Sith
Problem: Terrible Acting! Though Natalie Portman (Padme) tried to pull the couple, she was unable to overcome the terrible acting skills of Hayden Christensen (Anakin). Not only was this film one of the greatest disappointments in Sci-fi / Fantasy history largely due to Mr. Christensen's poor performance, it lacked emotion and led up to a troublingly-written sequel. The Star Wars of the 1970's and 80's is one classic that was perhaps better left alone without the three prequels. Though technology existed to wow us and secure an incredible vision, this couple, along with the horrible writing, left many disappointed.

Painful to watch Couple: Ellen DeGeneres (Martha) and Bill Pullman (Whitman)
Movie or Show: Mr. Wrong
Problem: Absolutely no chemistry. This movie was painful to watch because the couple just doesn't work, even when striving to convince us that Whitman is obsessed about Martha. We just can't believe it. Furthermore, we can't believe this film made it past the cutting room floor.

Poorly Copied Couple: Angelica Houston (Morticia) and Raul Julia (Gomez)
Movie or Show: The Addams Family
Problem: Ms. Houston doesn't seem to grasp the Poe-esque devotion to her Gomez. Julia does okay, but his affection lacks believability. This movie is a barely miss because the actors are so close, but they lack the strange, often smothering affection that the television series subjected viewers to.

Arrogant Hat Couple: Jonathan Frakes (William Riker) and Mirina Sirtis (Deanna Troi)
Movie or Show: Star Trek: Nemesis
Problem: In earlier Star Trek the Next Generation, Riker and Troi's romance was one worth rooting for. But Sirtis' Troi personality was often drowned by Frakes' Riker overacting and arrogance. Most fans were split on whether Troi should be paired with Worf (Michael Dorn) or be alone. It was clear that Frakes was a poor match for Troi due to the fact that she was much more giving of herself and he was, like alumn Shatner, more interested in how much camera time he commanded. Of course, those of a more narcissistic view preferred Riker's taming of Troi and pushing her into the background of his story.

Sadly Unbelievable Couple: Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) and Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester)
Movie or Show: Gossip Girl
Problem: Though many feel Chuck is a better match for Blair, the problem with this couple is the kiss is not believable. If you can't believe a kiss, then the couple will never look right, no matter how hard the writers write it later down the line. Chuck works a lot better than the hot mess they tried by pairing her with Nate.

Scizophrenically written Couple: Bryan Dattilo (Lucas Roberts) and Alison Sweeny (Samantha Brady)
Movie or Show: Days of Our Lives
Problem: The writers. Both Dattilo and Sweeny are excellent actors who have been involved with Days of Our Lives since around 1993. In this time, Sami and Lucas have undergone several changes in character. Sami's bad girl persona was replaced with that of the constantly helpless, mistake-making victim. Lucas, who was once a good friend and cohort, has been molded into a cold, ridiculously naïve shell. Constantly criticizing and awash with the notion of better dealing, many are relieved that Sami and Lucas are no longer together as a couple, but to please the fans of this once couple, the writers often smash them together for no reason. The result is a total lack of cohesion and terrible chemistry.

Agonizing Couple: Noah Wylie (John Carter) and Maura Tierney (Abbigail Lockheart)
Movie or Show: ER
Problem: John Carter had his share of lady friends during his time on ER. Some have been relatively painful to watch not unlike watching the misadventures of a friend unlucky in love and finding all the wrong people. Coupling with Abby did not give us a love triangle and plot, it instead provided a reason to turn the channel.

Unbelievable Couple: Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat
Movie or Show: Paranormal Activity
Problem: Though the premise is one that uses the imagination as the ultimate scare tactic, the couple didn't feel right from the beginning. A viewer might want to believe that there is passion between the two, but they fall short. Though one might believe that Micah is simply a clod, internally and beyond the premise of the scare lies a few holes . . . and it is soon discovered that the holes lie in the relationship. Not in a "this relationship is in trouble" way but in a "this was very poorly scripted and poorly cast" way.

Sadly Inefficient Couple: Hugh Jackman (Drover) and Nicole Kidman (Lady Sarah Ashley)
Movie or Show: Australia
Problem: If any movie had viewers desperately hoping the relationship was more believable, it was this one. There was something inherently painful in the way the two characters barely brushed what could be an incredible connection. Whether this was due to awkwardness or simply some sort of strain during production, it is felt throughout the film.
