10 New Year's Resolution Suggestions for Britney Spears

Rebecca Green
It's been a very busy year for Britney Spears. A very trying and also extremely confusing year for those that were either blessed or cursed (depending on perspective) to hear about her life often in the news and tabloids. Based off of what has been made public, I felt I could create a list of ten suggestions for resolutions that would perhaps help Britney out in the next year.

10. Take Parenting Classes

Now I understand fully why you drove off with your son in your lap and I don't blame you, honestly. However, I also don't feel you honestly understand just HOW dangerous your actions were. What if you'd wrecked? You, your son or both of you could have been seriously injured if not killed. Take some parenting classes, seriously. Just because you did something stupid doesn't mean you're a bad mother and taking those classes, if anything, makes you a good parent - admitting you need assistance in certain areas.

9. Stay Single

If Kevin didn't teach you anything else, I hope it's that you stay single for a while. Focus on your two gorgeous children, be a great mother to them and everything will be fine. The worst possible thing you can do is jump into another relationship immediately. I'm not saying rule it out, however, once the divorce is finalized, you need to not focus on the next bedmate of yours. You prove to everyone that's going to be against you that you can do it as a single mother. I have faith in you.

8. No new children

Do everyone a favor, no more children for a while. Having two is really difficult, especially with how close in age they are. You don't want to compound it with a third child. Back to back babies is not good on the body or the nerves. I'm sure you want a daughter someday and that's fine. But put it off a year or two - if not more. Sure, you have money and can afford things like pullups, diapers and anything else to cater to a child's fancy, but it's just not advisable. Plus consider it until you get into a healthy, mature relationship with someone who won't focus on their career so much it causes problems. Just wait a few years.

7. Get back in the Studio

Acting obviously didn't work out, I saw Crossroads. But, my dear, you DO have a voice, even if people say you're a horrible musician and can't carry a tune. The fact is you can. You have hit songs and maybe it's time to bring out a more mature sounding cd. I'm not talking smut-r-us, but stray away from the bubblegum pop you were popular for in the late 90's. Times have changed and if anything, take a cue from Madonna, as time changes, your style and sound changing can do you wonders. But just don't sit around and be a subject of media backlash for this or that. You want attention, get back in the studio. It shows everyone that you're not going to be down about the divorce or whatever Kevin puts you through as a result of it, but a mature take-charge woman who can do it on her own.

6. Write a book

Every female who has ever had a child is wondering how on earth you lost weight so fast and got back into shape. If you're not going to be cranking out an album immediately, then why not write a helpful book to other women on how they, too, can lose weight. It'd be inspiration to others to hear anyone in the public eye say, "You, too, can do it, here let me help you on the right track." Take into consideration you've already put out a perfume and other merchandise, so it's probably time you came out as an author, too. I'm sure you probably have it in you to write. And you'd be doing good by making it a weight loss book. As long as you don't make it conceited or brag about how much money you spent on trainers (if you hired trainers, that is).

5. Stick to one hairstyle

Overdoing your hair with different colors is killing your hair, Britney. First it's long, then it's short and natural. Then it's black and short and now it's back to blonde. All those chemicals in your hair are damaging. Stick to just one style and color instead of looking like a chameleon. The different color and style thing is getting rather old - you're a mother now - so it's time to be a little more mature. I'm not saying change is bad, however, as much as you're doing it.. there's nothing good that can come from it. Trust me.

4. Avoid the Media

Avoid becoming involved in another controvery in regards to your children by laying low. Sure, that may be hard and near impossible, however, you don't need to be thrown into another situation like the infamous 'car' pictures from this year. Your sons being in the media spotlight isn't good for them, either. Just remember, while you may feel that getting out of a situation in any way is the best method, more often than not it isn't the most secure. And what your children DO desire is protection and a way to avoid harm. Besides, little babies don't need to be in the spotlight - let yours enjoy their childhood and avoid the whole scene that Suri Cruise will have to suffer.

3. Don't Date another Backup Dancer Ever

Look what Kevin did to you. Honestly, it seemed blatantly obvious that he might suddenly try to use your fame to boost his own career. Lo and behold, he did. My advice is to avoid dating anybody backup or anyone interested in the same profession as you. It didn't work the first time there's no guarantee it'd work a second time. It's best to just wait, as I mentioned before, however, if you MUST date someone this year, for the love of God do not make it another Backup Dancer, please.

2. Forget Reality Television

Now, Reality Tv has its ups but what we saw of you was definitely a downer. While in reality we all have gas and burp, nobody wants to see how crude someone can be on television. If we wanted to see that, we could easily go to a family dinner where uncle somebody will, without a doubt, will display that behavior. While you showcased a more realistic persona on a reality show, it was about as amusing as getting a tooth pulled at a dentist. Nobody wants to see how disgusting anyone can be on television. Keep it behind the doors and stay off reality tv. It, if anything, did not help your career out any.

1. Become a Positive Role Model

The other day, I saw a girl in an outfit inspired by your 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' video. What bothered me about this was the girl was no more than 10. Yes, ten. An age that has been influenced by pop culture. Seeing a little girl prance around in a skirt that short should be outlawed. But you showcased at 17 that it was all right to dress that way. Now, you're a mother. Take that into consideration - if you ever have a daughter would you want boys of 13..14 looking at your daughter in that? I don't think so. Kids are influenced by adults and you are one, so you need to become a positive role model. Girls who dress like that can have bad things happen to them. Lead by example, Britney.

Britney has had a rather rough year, from having a second son to her now impending divorce, she has had a rough 2006. However, perhaps some of these resolutions would help her move forward from this difficult year and hopefully for the better.
