Lots of retail makeup giants claim to offer products that make you look younger. Is anti-aging makeup a reality? Yes and no! It takes a combination of the right products and applications to get a youthful makeup application. In the world of makeup, less is more and getting a lovely glow is just truly a few steps away. You might not look a decade younger, but you can knock off a few years, for good behavior! These 10 tips could be just what you need to get you started.
No heavy foundation. You'll be tempted to cake on the cream to powder foundation but don't! Heavy makeup settles in tiny lines, exaggerating them. Instead, opt for light foundations that give good coverage, like mineral powders. Contrary to popular belief, mineral powder isn't like the sheer finishing powder that Grandma wore. Mineral powders do a great job of softening and covering your face.
Use a concealer one shade lighter. Go light or go yellow! A yellow-based concealer hides age spots easily. If your skin can handle a yellow concealer, select a concealer that is one shade lighter than your natural skin tone. Apply it before the foundation and don't worry about blending it into your skin, you'll be covering it anyways.
Don't go crazy with the mascara. Heavy, spider-leg mascara isn't flattering on anyone. Think Tammy Faye Bakker.
Wear skin-toned lipstick. Crazy, bold colors will grab attention but skin-toned lipsticks make you look younger. Try a cappuccino or sheer lipstick for a youthful makeup application.
Sweep on one or two eyes hadows, not three or four. Getting complicated with the eye makeup is an old school technique. Don't do it. Keep it simple and attractive!
Skip gloopy glosses. Gloopy glosses only belong on teens. You don't want to try to look that young. If you want some shimmer, select a sparkling lip color.
Rub on creamy cheek color. Just tab and rub. Keep it light and creamy looking.
Dash bronzing powder on your nose and forehead. Bronzers are true youth makers. Sweep bronzer across the cheeks, nose and forehead for a finishing touch.
Apply lifting creams before you wear makeup. Eye creams really do work, if you can find a good one. Apply eye lifting creams before you apply your foundation. It's a real youth maker!
