Travel the State from Albertville to Wetumpka Fer the Best Darn Vittles on the Planet

Thanks to the official travel and tourism web site www.alabama.travel you can now experience the best food restaurateurs across the state of Alabama have to offer. When you visit the site you can download their brochure "100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama Before You Die". This brochure does not review restaurants and does not say the places chosen are the best. They have picked out individual dishes at restaurants which range from sophisticated to greasy spoon. Have you ever gone into a place and asked what their specialty is? Ask no more! Eat off the list and you will be sure of choosing the best eats they got.

The list is alphabetical so you will begin in Albertville and end in Wetumpka. It might have been better if it was regional but it's worth getting a map and figuring out where these cities are. For sure, you will go from the beaches of Gulf Shores to the mountains of Huntsville. Sure, there are Bar-B-Q places on the list - the Food Channel loves to go to the Brick Pit in Mobile and it's on the list - but you will find fish and meat and breakfast, lunch and dinner items. And the desserts will knock you out. I've had the pleasure of eating at most of the places in Mobile and they are yummmmmy.

You can get "Strawberried Alive" ice cream in Alexandria, cheese from the Sweet Home Farm in Elberta, crab cakes in Helena, Rose Cou Rouge wine (redneck rose) in Perdido and honeysuckle, lavender honey, and pomegranate ice cream in Waverly, just to mention a few. The list has the names and phone numbers of the restaurants and I suggest you call before you make a special trip because I know of a few on the list that are no longer around.

Taking a tasting trip through Alabama is like following the yellow brick road and finding the Wizard of Oz everywhere you turn. The trip will be fun, the tasting delicious and the memories magical. So go to www.alabama.travel and download that brochure now. Sometimes the folks in Alabama do strange things and you never know when they might take it down. And to thank me you can click on the 'thumbs up' on the top of this article. Now grab your napkin and get goin!
