With the arrival of a strange, blue eyed girl, a clan of hunters, the Yaghals, learn that their livelihood is threatened when their elder reveals a prophecy that determines when their clan will be threatened and--as it appears--come to an end. It is up to one hunter to prevent the clan's demise--the hunter that receives the white spear and takes the blue eyed girl as his woman.
When it is revealed that D'Leh (played by Steven Strait), whose father abandoned the tribe after the prophecy was spoken, was the be that hunter, the rest of the clan completely convinced of his ability. D'Leh, however, is not. He won the white spear based on purely luck rather than courage, and so he forfeits it back to its rightful owner, Tic Tic (played by Clif Curtis).
The time comes, however, for D'Leh to accept his destiny when members of his clan are taken captive by some fierce horseback warlords. Among the group is his love, Evolet (played by Camilla Belle), the blue-eyed girl who first came to bring the prophecy. D'Leh is determined to track and follow the warlords as far as is necessary to get back his comrades, but there are few Yaghals left and the journey is long. Even if they were to make it, the handful of followers he has cannot possibly help save the captured. D'Leh, then, is forced to fully grasp his destiny in order to become the hero he was meant to be.
Tagline: It takes a hero to change the world.
Rating: PG-13
Runtime: 109 minutes
Genre: Adventure, Romance

My Rating: 9/10
Pros: I, personally, happen to love Steven Strait. I go out of my way to watch anything he's in because I love him as an actor. But, besides that, the story line held my attention pretty well and I really began to love/hate the characters and it's always good to be able to have that strong emotional connection with the movie. The graphics and special effects were good, and I absolutely loved the ending.
Cons: The most obvious one would be lack of historical accuracy. That doesn't matter to me, personally, but some people might have a problem with it. In some places, too, the movie was a bit hard to follow and it took a little while to grasp. The names are very hard to remember, too, and it wasn't until towards the end that I finally was able to discern who was who because I kept getting the minor characters mixed up.
