100,000 Page Views & 100 Articles Written for Associated Content: What I Have Learned

Article Writing at Associated Content

Marie M. Daniels
I have been writing articles at Associated Content for over one year now. I have written 100 plus articles and over that time I have gained experience and insight. I want to share some tips for writing at Associated Content (AC).

I came to Associated Content to get paid more for my time and for my writing. I was over at Squidoo making lenses and not getting much payout. I had read all about AC and the earnings potential. I already had many articles written before AC and Squidoo so I brought several of them over with me to AC. I made more at Associated Content than at Squidoo so I began writing for AC on a steadier basis.

Associated Content is not a get rich scheme or a scam, as some people would have you believe. AC requires work, time, effort and research. If you want to get to Clout 10 then you have to write. I see many newbies posting in the forums asking how long will it take to make a certain amount of money. Then you look at their profile and they have not even written one article yet, and many of them never will.

I have learned that you must keep submitting articles, everyday if you can. Or at least publish several articles a week. I learned that Associated Content alone may not ever earn anyone a full time income, but it could earn you a very nice part time income. It all depends on how much you get paid up-front for your articles and how many articles you have along with page views and your clout level. Setting monthly goals for your writing is extremely important also.

I know not to put all of my eggs in one basket. Unfortunately my AC basket has more eggs than my other "baskets" because I like the way they are set up and the ease of writing here. The payout at Associated Content seems to be higher than many other writing sites - for now.

I have learned to promote my writing a little. Article promotion may or may not be necessary. If your articles get indexed in the search engines that may be all you will need to get clicks on your article and more page views. I also try at times to comment on other AC writers' articles. Often times though, I have to forgo commenting because I am highly distractible and would end up spending all day reading other writers articles.

I have learned that I am not the best writer in the world, but that is not going to stop me. Some of the books being published today are certainly not ever going to be classic literature and some are not well written at all. I have learned that certain article types get more page views and clicks than others. Some of the highest page view articles on Associated Content are: News articles, Celebrity News, Craft articles, events and holidays.

I plan to continue writing for Associated Content for at least another year and possibly beyond. I hope that my writing skills will improve and I will reach all of my goals. If you are just starting out writing for content sites like Associated Content and Helium, do learn what you can from the top writers and try not to make the same mistakes they have.
