10/01/10 the Beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Today is the start of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Last year I did two very different types of articles about breast cancer. One was my outrage at the newly recommended taking away of annual mammograms starting at forty. The other was about a particularly fast spreading form of breast cancer called IBC (inflammatory breast cancer). Both are rather lengthy, but if you get the chance you can read them at IBC Inflammatory Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer Screening Debate Continues.

You can view an inspiring video from Pink Together below. As you can easily see, there are no boundaries as to age, race or appearance. Breast cancer doesn't have "boundaries". The safest way to go is prevention and early detection. I would like to share personal stories whether it be about the fight, the diagnosis, the mental changes, anything at all. Please send me a PM or comment below if you or a family member or friend has been affected by breast cancer. I think in sharing, we will all become aware just how important early detection is. I also think that by sharing, some may find a little comfort. We have made great strides in this disease, but until it is completely eradicated, I think every month needs to be breast cancer awareness month. Until then, I would like to start off 2010 Breast Cancer Awareness month like this and see where it leads.

Let's continue to put faces and real people with this disease and create more awareness. I will do other articles as well, but I would really think it would be helpful to some to start this month off by making breast cancer "real" to everyone by showing just how many people we know are affected by breast cancer.
