The 101 Things to do in 1001 Days originated from the website "Day Zero Project" and the site is about the following:
"The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching." (dayzeroproject.com)
Also from this site it gives you tips on how to set goals.
The hard part of getting started on 101 things is actually coming up with 101 things. Here's so tips to get started:
1. Start off with the inevitable debts you owe and vices to break- Got a credit card? Then get rid of that credit card debt! Drink too many sugary drinks? Then include on the list that you would like to cut them down i.e. go without soda for a month. We'd all like to eat healthier so mention you'd like to eat at least one piece of fruit per day. Or do you have a bad habit? Don't just put "break a bad habit" on your list-- make sure it's specific for examples "Quit smoking" or "stop saying slang words."
2. Traveling - this is very broad too from countries to taking random roadtrips for the weekend. I even mention specific buildings, museums, and national parks too.
3. Teach yourself something - Just because you're out of school doesn't mean you CAN'T learn something new. Good examples would be learning a new language, read articles on your industry on a regular basis, study new cultures, take a leisure class, etc.
4. Entertainment - Favorite concert? Want to go to a music festival? Attend a taping of a show? Watch the top 250 movies in IMDB? Watch a local play? Read all the Harry Potter series? Then add that to your list too! You can even include making mixed CDs for friends.
5. Personal Finance - Raise your emergency worth 3 months of living expenses. Another example is to create a CD. You could add those to your goals.
6. Add incentives - you can include for every item you complete, add five dollars to your savings account or piggy bank and for every item you didn't complete, give it away to charity.
7. Organization - Want to make your life less cluttered? Want to make your routine more streamlined? Then list specific things to do such as take one hour of the week and dedicate it to cleaning up your place.
8. Charity and Volunteer - There are so many ways to do charity from answering questions correctly to donate free rice at freerice.com. Buy TOMS shoes so a kid from a developing country can wear shoes too. You can donate blood. Wipe off graffiti at a local park. Run a marathon for AIDS, the possibilities are endless.
9. Friends , Relationships, and Contacts- Mention that you would like to keep in touch with someone from high school or college once a week would be a good example. Also mention you'd like to build your network and contacts-this is beneficial for any job.
10. Get your friend involved - try to get your friends involved in the 101 things list too by adding "try to get 5 people started on their 101 lists."
11. Let your imagination run wild! aka "life's too short"- I've seen some lists with interesting ones like register 6 one dollar bills to wheresgeorge.com. There's also participating in the 100 strangers project. There's skydiving and kayaking and canoeing. You can learn to bartend or help plan a wedding or host a dinner party or write a book! Let it run, even if you would never see yourself do something, write it down--you may never know you might suprised yourself.

I highly recommend publishing your 101 things on a blog and talk about the items you've completed. Also print a hard copy out too so you can look at your items away from the computer.
Good luck folks!
