You will do no better than reading Bob Confer's column in the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal "Confer: The 10th Amendment Movement."
Is it opinionated? Yes it is. Is it critical of the current government? Yes it is. Read it anyway.
Confer illustrates the situation simply as very few people do these days.
America was founded on the basis of total freedom after having been under the thumb of an uneven British government with all the power in the throne.
Our founding fathers knew that no large amount of federal power would be a good thing and as a result brought in the 10th Amendment. This essentially says that the powers of the federal government limited and defined and aimed at providing interaction outside the country while internal affairs belong to the states and more important the people.
Of course the founding fathers weren't socialists.
Here's the situation: The states are getting pushed around pretty good by Obama and, a lot of people don't like what they see about him snubbing our allies and sucking up to historic enemies. Further the federal government is just doing what it wants to do.
States are starting to revolt and for that matter so are people.
How dangerous is the current situation? This is my humble opinion but I think right now things are much like a tinderbox.
The Democratic Party has taken over and Obama has even left them out of things. Decisions are being made by
very few people. Frankly the 10th Amendment movement was bound to occur.
This is really a sign to Obama that he needs to slow down and get the interests of the majority behind him or, he needs to explain some things.
He needs to explain why he bows showing obeisance to a "nobody" that happens to have his background in common and shows disrespect to a country that has been our ally.
But this isn't the place to criticize Obama. The actions of the states are innately doing that.
I can't remember a president doing so poorly, being such a poor politician that they caused a revolt by the states.
