Why You Should Be Your Own Boss

L J Pearce
Being your own boss is a big step and decision to make, especially if you are used to working for someone else, having a steady job and salary. So why should you be your own boss? Here are some reasons, some pros if you like:

1.You can control your own fate - If you are in a 9 to 5 job you cannot really choose what to do, when and why.
2.You can earn as little or as much as you want and when you want, you will have more freedom to work, rest and play as and when you feel.
3.You will get to do something you have always dreamed about or wanted to do.
4.You will get to have more freedom
5.You will be able to spend more quality time with your friends and family
6.You will be able to take control of your own development, for example you will be able to learn about what you want/need to learn about as apposed to what your boss wants you to learn about.
7.You can organise your own timetable and schedule, to fit you your needs and your wants.
8.You can follow your dreams.
9.You can be proud of the business or businesses you have built up.
10.You could maybe become famous for what you do - if you want to be famous of course!
11.You can work whatever hours you want to - BUT remember that the more you put in the more you will get out.

Some things to remember about being self employed
1.Its not all fun and games, if you want to make money, build a business and so on. You will need to put the work in.
2.You will need to be motivated to get up each and every day and push yourself to achieve more.
3.You will be responsible for all your actions and their consequences unless of course you set up a business as a partnership or similar - then you will both be liable.
4.You will need to keep your financial records in order and do all of your taxes on time - unless of course you hire an accountant or bookkeeper.
5.You will need to put yourself out there, find work, find jobs and meet new people.
6.You will need to network both online and offline.
7.There will be no one else to blame except for yourself if things don't go as you planned.

I hope you have found this article both useful and helpful. Good luck with going into self employment / being self employed it really is a life changing decision and move.
