The Liberal NY Senator Chuck Schumer said, "This is just the first, certainly not the last, piece of legislation that we will put forward in relation to jobs. If we don't create jobs, the economy will not move forward."
Ironically, the Democrats are pushing forward on Obamacare, here and here, a bill that will raise taxes on small businesses, which will impede job growth.
The Good: Much of the bill is financed over the coming decade by cracking down on offshore tax havens.
The Bad: The bulk of the hiring tax breaks would go to companies that were likely to hire new workers anyway.
The Ugly: It would add $13 billion to the debt in the coming three years. The bill would cost about $17 billion by the end of the next decade.
President Obama stated he will "pivot" toward job creation. The creation of a "jobs bill" can help him with that appearance. Before there was a "jobs Bill" there was an $862 billion economic stimulus bill, which his team claimed will not allow the unemployment rate to rise above 8-percent.
How's that 10-percent plus unemployment rate working for us?
The Obama team rewrapped the package and is now billing it as a "jobs bill." Perfect, as it is the American taxpayer that is getting jobbed.
To borrow a line from the president, you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig.
One Republican, not a member of the eleven GOP Senators that voted for the jobs bill, apparently understood the gimmick and revealed his principled stance on the Senate floor.
Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) had this to say, "When are we going to stop spending money around here as if there's no tomorrow?" "Because pretty soon there's going to be no tomorrow for our children as we add this debt to their backs."

Post a CommentThe burden on the younger generation is not only the national deficit incurred by the stimulus package. It also includes the potential national deficit incurred by ineffective tax cuts and incentives. One technical point: The national debt refers to the annual national debt. The long term debt is referred to as the national deficit.
Thanks for the rollcall. I double-checked my state to determine my vote in November. Excellent job.
I give up. I surrender. There's just too much to criticize anymore and it doesn't look like it will end. It could fill every spare second and some that I don't have as spares.
Great job, Tony. To a previous comment - Yes, the Health Care Reform bill will create many jobs ... over 16,000 new IRS positions that we know of! As for small businesses - They are not hiring because they are AFRAID of what this horrible administration is doing, like this ridiculus health care bill. Keep up the good reporting, Tony. I will be reading you regularly.
Of course we need jobs Mr. West; Obamanomics does not adequately provide that.
We need jobs to fix our poor infrastructure. Our roads and bridges are a mess.
Oh, we're getting "jobbed", alright! Another Band-Aid on a shotgun wound, if you ask me!
Thanks Tony!
