1,100 Iraqi Civilians Reportedly Killed in Iraq in November

The most recent provisional data produced by IraqBodyCount.org places the total number of civilians killed in Iraq for the month of November at 1,100. Information published on the group's website indicated that 209 civilians were killed in Iraq between the 24th and 30th of November. The IBC also estimated that 75 Iraqi civilians were killed by U.S. forces last month, including two children.

The IBC placed the number killed of Iraqi civilians killed on Friday, November 30 at 17.

Gunmen reportedly killed two in Kirkuk and one in Maqdaduya. Three deaths in Iskandariya and the death of one policeman in Khalis were attributed to al-Qaeda fighters. Mortars killed three in Hibhib. A roadside bomb killed three Baquda and a suicide bomber killed a police captain in Dhuluiya. Three bodies were also discovered in Baghdad.

Early reports also indicated that 30 Iraqi civilians died on Thursday, November 30. Roadside bombs killed one in Baghdad and a policeman in Bamo. A Mortar attack killed twelve in Al-Salam. Gunmen killed two policemen during a battle in Okashat. In two other separate incidents, gunmen shot the son of a sheikh in Tikrit and a guard protecting the mayor of Hawija. A car bomb also killed 4 policemen in Shirqat. Six more bodies were found in Baghdad.

IBC reported 16 civilian deaths in Iraq for Wednesday, the 28th of November. In Baghdad three civilians were killed in an explosion and an additional three bodies were found. Another 5 civilians died in a mortar attack in Haqlaniya. Gunmen killed the mayor of Tikrit, a civilian in Hawija, and a policeman in Mosul as well.

The group placed civilian deaths for Tuesday, the 27th of November at 71. Six civilians were killed by American forces in Baghdad. A Baghdadi woman died in a grenade attack and three other bodies were found in the Iraqi capital as well. In Baquda, suicide bombers reportedly killed as many as fifteen during attacks on civilian, military, and police targets. Nine bodies were found in Mosul, and another two died during clashes there as well. Four bodies were found in Tikrit. Also, the bodies of 15 people taken hostage by gunmen were found in the Nineveh province.

An estimated 19 civilians died on Monday the 26th according to IBC. A mother and two children were reportedly killed by gunmen in Baghdad. Four additional bodies were found there as well. A roadside bomb killed civilians in Mosul and three bodies were found there as well. In Kut, gunmen killed one policeman. Another civilian death was attributed to al-Qaeda operatives in Kut. Gunmen reportedly killed a man in Hilla. Finally, reports indicated that two men and a child were killed in Baiji when U.S. forces opened fire on their vehicle.

IBC estimated that 39 Iraq civilians were killed in Iraq on Sunday the 25th of November. A series of bombings killed 18 in Baghdad. Five more bodies were there discovered in the Iraq capital as well. Gunmen also killed two civilians in Baquba, two in Basra, and two in Mandali. U.S. forces killed one man in his car as he drove with his family in Ramadi.

Seventeen civilians were killed on Saturday the 24th of November, according to IBC. Bombings killed one Iraq policeman in Mosul and three in Samarra. Two civilians were shot outside a mosque in Hilla. The remaining casualties for the day were comprised of bodies uncovered in Baghdad, Falluja, Tuz Khurmato, and Wahija.

The IBC emphasizes that this data should be viewed as provisional and that the figures may change as more reports roll in from Iraq.
