11/22/10 Daily Dose of Nonsense

Weekend BO

Scope it, as in Horoscope: When you acquire all those material things in life, you will see it doesn't really matter. Especially when you move. What a pain.

Bonehead Tip of the Day: When shopping, open your mouth and let it hang open as you go through the aisles. Is this a new trend? It's very appealing. Meanwhile, let the kids stroll through the aisles as if this is a playground. Stop with your cart in the middle of the aisle. Have a conversation while blocking people's movements. Eat while shopping. Have the cell phone plastered to your ear throughout the trip. Yes, including the check out line. Pay no attention to the cashier. Forget how you are going to pay so you have to dig for it - - and then work the exact change thing.

Trivia: Some sharks like to eat the sea hedgehog. Yes, there is such a thing. However, after a shark swallow one that sea hedgehog can blow itself up like a balloon. Their quills can rip the shark's stomach and thus, can escape. no word on what a license plate does to its stomach. The tomato is actually a berry. So is Mr. White, as in Barry. Turkish soldiers were dumfounded when their hookah was destroyed by fire. They decided to roll their tobacco in papers used for firing their guns. This is said to be the first time cigarettes were rolled. Ethylene gas triggers the ripening of many fruits. It does wonder for me, too.

The List: BO
1. "Harry Potter/Deathly Hallows" - $125.1 million
2. "Megamind" - $16.1 million
3. "Unstoppable" - $13.1 million

Notes. Still estimates. Actuals released later today. It was the best opening for a "Potter" film. "Megamind" had a three-week run at the top but thankfully that is over. "Red" seems the be the movie with legs since its release. Second week always important to gauge a movie's legs. We will see how "Potter" does next weekend. After all, it's a holiday weekend. Some films get rolled out on Wednesday and some on Friday. Since "Potter" is out, no need to roll it. Really no big films now that "Potter" is out so this weekend, we will see. Also, films looking for Oscar consideration tend to get the slow roll out at the end of the year. See, "127 Hours" as an example. To be considered for Best Picture, the film must be released in LA County or NYC for one week by Dec. 31. Other categories have different rules. Note docs below. My favorite of the year, "A Winter's Bone" may need a campaign to get some notice.

Closer: Let's have some lame duck this Thanksgiving week.
