It is the birthplace of both baseball and Frank Sinatra. In 1846, the first officially recorded baseball game occurred in Hoboken, between Knickerbocker Club and New York Nine and Elysian Fields.
Frank Sinatra was born Dec. 12, 1915, on Monroe St., near 4th, and his father was the Fire Captain of the Hoboken Fire Department.
Every year, there is a Frank Sinatra Idol Contest, held in Sinatra Park.

The first brewery in America was built in Hoboken. It's located on Castle Point, and Nicholas Varlett acquired the patent for the brewery in 1663.

Hoboken also has its own Flip Cup tournament. Last February marked the seventh tournament, with an entrance fee of $30 per player, six players per team, and $25 per spectator. However, entrance included an open-beer bar for three hours.
