12 'Thirty-Minute Fixes' to Liven Up Your Home

Are you looking for ways to spruce up your house without spending a lot of time and money? Well, here are twelve ideas that will take just a few minutes, only a basic tool or two, and less than $50.

1. OUTLET AND SWITCH COVERS- You will not need a contractor or electrician to do this project. Simply take note of the number and size of the covers in your home, go to the hardware store and pick out the new ones, then, install them. It only takes a few moments and a screwdriver to do each one.

2. CEILING FAN- This project is easier than you may think. Once you have your new fan, simply follow the instructions that come with it. PLEASE be sure to turn off the power to the room where you are installing the fan prior to starting the job.

3. CURTAINS- You can replace your curtains and blinds in a flash with no tools.

4. THROW RUGS- Once again, no tools required.

5. SLIP COVERS, PILLOWS, and BLANKETS- Another tool free way to change the look of a room in a blink.

6. LIGHTS- Either lamps or fixtures will do the trick here. If you install new fixtures, PLEASE cut the power supply before you start.

7. DOOR KNOBS- This often overlooked item is sure to catch the attention of everyone. And, for only $10 and two minutes with a screwdriver each, you will have a great new look.

8. PICTURES- Every store has frames and art at varying prices. Shop around and find something in your price range that you like. There are even products out which allow you to hang pictures without using a hammer.

9. MIRRORS- Just like pictures, mirrors can be a quick, tool free revamp for any room.

10. BEAN BAG CHAIRS- Do you have kids? Whether you do or not, bean bag chairs are another fun way to change the look of any room.

11. PLANTS- You can get them live or manufactured. Craft stores have a wide variety, for a great price. You can even mix and match your own. The only limit here is your imagination.

12. FURNITURE- This need not be an expensive endeavor. There are brands of furniture which you can buy and assemble yourself with only a screwdriver and hammer. They can also be painted or covered to match your room.
