The first step to looking and feeling good is to have a good healthy body.
The biggest step towards better health is accepting the fact that you need to make certain changes in your life towards becoming fitter and healthier. Here are some tips to assist you to improve your health and help you to achieve a fresh and improved you.
1. Set a life goal to obtain a healthier mindset on life which without any shadow of doubt will lead to a healthier you, if you're determined to reach a better state of health, making it a reality will be just that much easier.
2. Support your new healthy mindset by discovering everything you can about methods of achieving better health and living a healthier lifestyle. Some sources you can use to better educate yourself are the internet, books, DVDS, clubs, gyms and support groups to your benefit, knowing all you can about living a healthy lifestyle will give you a great foundation to work from.
3. Everybody has to start somewhere so why not take the first step by taking a look at your kitchen and reorganizing in preparation for your new healthy way of life. Reorganize your kitchen cabinets, cupboards and refrigerator to ensure that there are no signs of the old you and insert all the signs of the things that will help you in your new lifestyle.
4. Get yourself a large planner calendar, pin it up in your kitchen and mark the day when you choose to begin your journey towards a new lifestyle and make sure you stick to it no matter what.
5. From day one keep a journal, this can either be a traditional one, a blog or you can even use your computer. You should include all thoughts and feelings that are going thru your mind about your lifestyle along with all the changes you see about yourself. This is very important, as you can look back to see the fantastic changes that are occurring due to your positive outlook and changes you have decided to make.
6. Positive thoughts and self talk or affirmations are a necessity, they will give you confidence at the start and will continue to take you through the rough times which will often occur during the early stages of change.
7. Replace your old junk-food with your new healthier choices and don't forget to purchase any small appliances which you'll need to support your healthier way of eating, such as blenders and food weighing scales.
8. Give up any bad habits such as smoking or drinking, you will never reach your optimal peak of health while you're puffing away on cigarettes or drinking on a regular basis.
9. Along with changes to your diet you'll also have to make changes to the amount of exercise you do per day, while good healthy food is necessary, exercise is also just as important to help fend off the onset of diseases such as heart disease, as well as helping us to firm up our body or lose a few pounds.
10. Make sure that you get the recommended 5 portions of fruit and veggies per day on your new diet, fruit and veggies are packed full of essential vitamins that are good for you.
11. Cut down on excess salt, sugar and any fatty foods from your diet, this will effectively lower your cholesterol and blood pressure.
12. Make sure you learn methods to eliminate as much stress from your lifestyle as you possibly can, there are many ways to do this. (E.g. exercising, taking your dog for a walk, taking deep breaths or even just closing your eyes for a short while and listening to soothing music)
