12/27/10 Daily Dose of Nonsense

Bonehead Tip

Scope it, as in Horoscope: Enough is enough with the word regift or regifting stories, ideas, and the like. We all do it. We all will do it. We all will do it again in the future. It means you are frugal, right? So, just do it. And for all of us "Seinfeld" fans we are a little tired of everyone hopping on this one - - albeit very late.

Bonehead Tip of the Day: You know, the snow has fallen and the trucks are out so you feel left out. Buy a yellow siren light and turn that puppy on and drive around town. Please get in the way of intersections, gas pumps and snowplows. Have a nice day. "Stay off the roads" does not mean you because you are special.

The list: Weekend BO.
For those knew to this column, BO is not Body Odor or Barack Obama - - it's Box Office.
1. "Little Fockers" - $34 million
2. "True Grit 2010" - $25.6 million
3. "Tron: Legacy" - $20.1 million
Source: Box Office Mojo
Notes: Hold on one minute. This is tricky since the top two films opened on Wednesday so their totals are $48.3 million and $36.8 million, give or take a buck or two. Now, Jeff Bridges is in two of the top three movies. He really has always been good folks. However, if you had to pick, and I would, pick "True Grit" for your Bridges fix. I'm still trying to figure out what "Tron" means. A 3D film and a huge dud is "Gulliver's Travels" with Jack Black. Brutal. So, here's something for the new year. Stop making films many of us loved growing up and ruining them forever. Take "Yogi Bear" for example. While you are at it, put them in 3D as well. Oh sure, more appealing. As the year ends, we can now crown "Toy Story 3" as the box office champ. And it may make some history if it gets a Oscar nod for animation and Best Picture.

Trivia: Here's one that must stand alone because it stopped me in my tracks after hearing it on "60 Minutes" Sunday. "Dinosaurs are not extinct. They are birds now."

Closer: Just the idea that Hugh Hefner tweets is somewhat unsettling. Put that in a headline and read it. Hugh Hefner Tweets His Engagement.
