This is the 122nd Linn County Pioneer Picnic in Brownsville and the entire town is present for the activities and fun. Mark your calendars and be sure to attend.

Brownsville was settled in 1846 located at the foothills of the Cascades. When this lazy town was first settled it was actually the biggest commerce area for many of the valley's product needs. Home of the small ferry built by Alexander and Sarah Kirk across the Calapooia River so that travel across was easier in the winter months. The valley floor was generally flooded during the rainy season and crossing these plains was impossible. In 1853 Brownsville established the first store south of the Calapooia River so that local farmers and homesteads could actually obtain items without traveling days along the foothills for their supplies.

Although Brownsville is a community of several small townships consolidated over the course of many years the area still has maintained it's small town ambience. A nice place to visit, relax and unwind and as stated above participate in one of Linn Counties most amazing pioneer activities.
