1. Decorate Trick-or-Treat Bags
Decorate either pillow cases or pumpkin baskets using stickers, puffy paint, or other materials.
2. Ghost Circle Story
Everyone sits in a circle and then you start telling a ghost story. After you tell part of your story, have the person next to you continue it. Keep going around the circle until the story has a scary ending!
3. Halloween Block Party
Get all your neighbors together and throw a block party. Each neighbor can serve a dish or finger food, and each house can have a different theme. For example, one house can have a ghost theme, another house can have a vampire theme, etc.
4. Halloween Costume Contest
Once all your guests have arrived, you can have a Halloween costume contest. You can have one winner, or a winner for multiple categories, such as scariest, funniest, or most closely resembles a particular character.
5. Halloween Guessing Game
Write down famous Halloween characters-such as Dracula or Casper the Friendly Ghost-on pieces of paper, and then tape the paper onto people's backs. Each person then has to take turns guessing who they are by asking yes or no questions about their character.
6. Halloween Movie Marathon
Choose your five favorite Halloween movies and have a movie marathon. You can easily turn this party into a slumber party.
7. Halloween Photos
Scatter disposable cameras all over your house so that guests can take their own Halloween photos throughout the party. When you get your photos developed, you can put them all on a CD and upload them online so that all your guests can see the photos.
8. Halloween Scavenger Hunt
Give your guests a list of spooky items they have to find either around your house or around your neighborhood. Some items could include a miniature jack-o-lantern, a fake spider, or a fake eyeball.
9. Halloween Theme Party
Choose a theme for your Halloween party and have all your guests dress in that theme. One theme idea is to choose a Halloween movie and have your guests dress as characters from that movie. You can also have simpler themes such as a skeleton or witch and warlock theme.
10. Haunted House
Use your garage to set up your own haunted house. Both guests and passing trick-or-treaters can enjoy your haunted house.
11. Pumpkin Carving Contest
Have your guests each carve a pumpkin, and then let everyone pick the best one. The winner can receive some sort of prize, such as a giant candy bar or a special trick-or-treating bag. You can also paint the pumpkin instead of carving it.
12. Pumpkin Game
Buy a bunch of miniature pumpkins and hide them around your house. Then, have your guests search for the pumpkins, and whoever finds the most pumpkins wins. This is very similar to an Easter egg hunt.
13. Roast Pumpkin Seeds
Roast the pumpkin seeds from your jack-o-lantern and share them with your guests.
