Fun, Easy and Inexpensive Halloween Decorations!
Craft punches come in a variety of sizes - from 1 inch to about 3 inches. Or you can get a Sizzix die cut machine and make bigger die cuts! Provo Craft Cricut Personal Die-cut Machine is also a good choice for making die cuts.
Go Pumpkin Crazy! The size of the pumpkin depends on where you are wanting to stick it.. With a marking pen, add a face and a sicky photo mount square and stick them all over the house- inside and out! Stick them inside your car, on your school books, on your pencil, your clothes, you cell phone, iPod or purse. Most anywhere you can think of, you can stick a die cut/punched pumpkin!
Make a "streamers" of pumpkins. Punch the pumpkin shapes out and take a long piece of clear scotch tape and lay the tape backwards so sticky side is up. Secure both ends so the tape lays flat. Take your decorated pumpkin punchies and just lay them across the sticky side of the scotch tape. Once you have the stripe of tape covered with pumpkin punchies, stick the exposed ends of tape to the wall, or wherever you want the "streamer" of pumpkins to go. You can use different colors of card stock paper to make the pumpkins - this is also a good way to make a Fall/Autum theme of streamers for Thanksgiving time!
Make Pumpkin confetti - using the smaller pumpkin punch - about 1/4 size, just punch your heart out and fill a baggie or two full of "pumplin punchies". Have them tready to toss, decorate or just accentuate you party area or your front doorway for the trick or treaters!
Make Pumpkin Surprises! Using about a 1 inch pumpkin hand craft punch - punch the pumpkin punchies. Then scatter them, secretly, around the house for that great "pumpkin surprise". Sprinkle them in your kids sock drawer so they see them first thing in the morning! Unroll the toilet paper about 2 feet worth and add a little pumpkin between the roll and what you have pulled of and RE-ROLL the toilet paper back onto the roll. Next person that uses the toilet paper, as they pull it from the roll.. the pumpkins fall out and "decorate" the bathroom! Sprinkle the 1 inch pumpkin punchies in their beds and then make the bed - what a surprise when they get ready to go to bed that night! Drop a handful of them in the kids back pack so whenever they take something out - it will be "accompanied" by a couple of pumpkins!! Sprinkle the pumpkin punchies anywhere that will be covered so once once uncovered will reveal that wonderful pumpkin surprise!
Make Pumpkin Cards: Fold orange card stock in half. Place the folded paper in the pumpkin die cut apparatis, making sure you place the left folded edge of the orange paper just INSIDE the die so that it doesn't cut that edge. This way, once cut, the pumpkin will have a folded left edge so it can be opened. Decorate to your liking! Make invitations, notices or just cute little notes for all!
Make Coasters - Use heavy cardstock paper and cut large pumpkins and place on tables or counters around the house. They will be used if they are there.
Make Pumpkin Love Notes - or just friendship notes! Cut a pumpkin, write your "note" and place it in your child's lunch box, in their back pack, as a book mark, on their plate at breakfast, inside their sandwich, on their bed pillow or under their pillow or blankets. Anywhere you know they will go, leave them a note to tell them you love them!
Make a Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt - write clues on a pumpkin die cut, with clues to where a surprise is. The kids can follow the clues to find the surprise!
Reward Pumpkins - if you have system in your house where kids get rewards for things they do - write the reward on the pumpkin.
Coupon Pumpkins - a great way for the kids to give back to the parents - do the "this pumpkin entitles you to ________". Just fill in the blank and hand them out!
Pumpkin Ornaments - Using a large punch or die cut of a pumpkin, punch them out and using a hole punch, punch a hole in the top of the die cut, and hang them throughout the house. This makes for a great Halloween decoration to your house!
Trick or Treat party treat - If your kids are having a party - take a lunch size brown paper bag and fill it with treats. Roll the top down to close it and secure it with a deocrated pumpkin die cut!
Large Pumpkin Streamers - punch large - at least 4 inches in size - pumpkins from orange card stock. Punch tiny hole in the top and the bottom of the pumpkin die cut. Using a string that is slightly thicker than the holes you punched, lace the string through the holes. The string will visable only on one side. SInce the string is thicker than the holes it will lace but allow the pumpkins to stay in mid stream. Then you can make the "stream" of pumpkins as long as you like and hang them from the ceiling. Or do the same procedure but put the holes on the sides of each pumpkin and lace them side to side - then hang the "streamer' horizonally instead of vertically.
Orange card stock pumpkins in many sizes, used in different ways means lots of pumpkin decoration for your house and a few surprises inbetween. Happy Punching!
