1. Nursing and Pregnant Moms
If you are a nursing mom or you are pregnant you will want to add a night light to your list of things to get. When you wake up in the middle of the night, not having to roll over to turn on a lamp illuminating the room can really be nice. A night light will allow you to get to your baby's side quicker and safer.
2. Co-Sleeping Family
When you have a child in the room during night time you will want to have a night light so if the child wakes up you can comfort them easier and keep the room dim to help everyone fall back asleep easier.

6. Young Children
When a room is housing young children during nighttime a night light can be very comforting to them.

If you are worried about wasting electricity keep this in mind, if you have a 100-watt light bulb turned on for 10 hours it will use kilowatt hour of electricity, where as a 10-watt night light can be on for 100 hours before using a kilowatt hour of electricity. You could also get night lights that are activated by the amount of light, or rather the lack of it, in a room.

Good stuff. I really should get a nightlight for the hallway... I'm always just barely making the turn from the bathroom to the bedroom. One of these days I'm going to do a header down the stairs.
