J Deyoe
Everyone loves stockings. You never know for sure what you will find in them And filling them can be expensive. This list is made up of great stocking stuffers for under $5 each. The most common stocking stuffer is a pair of gloves or mittens. Everyone needs them, and they are easily found for under $5. You can purchase them in a variety of colors, with fur around the cuffs or lined. Gloves can be gotten for as little as $1 a pair, or you can spend more depending on what you are looking at. The wonderful Polar Fleece Gloves that you can find at Walmart are warm and come in many different colors. These warm and stylish gloves are priced at only $3 a pair. They also have these with Velcro around the wrists to help keep them on and the cold air and snow out.

Along with the gloves, you can also find a Polar Fleece Beanie. The beanies are cute and warm. Many teens love to wear them. The fleece is warm, comfortable and it doesn't leave lint in your hair. The Polar Fleece Beanie hat can also be found at Walmart for just $3 each, and come in a wide variety of colors.

If your teenage girl doesn't like to wear hats, another great stocking stuffer for her is the Polar Fleece Ski Band. These are very comfortable and very warm, even though they don't cover the head. These can be worn easily under a hood, and help keep the cold air out of your ears when the wind is blowing. These come in a wide variety of colors, and they only sell for $2 each.

Leg warmers are back in style again! And at Walmart you can purchase these in a wide variety of colors and styles for only $5 a pair or less. These are great for keeping your teen's legs warm while she is at a foot ball game or out with her friends. With all the colors, you can easily match them up with gloves or hats.

With the cold weather coming, you may also want to look into some lotion to help soften the dry rough skin of winter. You can find a wide variety of lotions at any store. With wanting to use it often, you will want to choose a lighter scent that will go with any of the perfume that your teen may be wearing.

Lip balm is also a great gift for the stocking. You can find many types out there at any store, but my favorite is the Lip Butter. They have a wide variety of flavors, including chocolate, that you can easily put in a stocking and the price runs about $3.50, depending on the store, it may be a little more or a little less.

Another suggestion that will be a good stocking stuffer is body sprays. With Christmas coming soon, you will find a wide variety of these available. On of my favorite that is a combination of a flower scent and tangerines. So Wild is a body spray that is 2.5 ounces, and it sells for $3.77.

Another great gift idea is bubble bath. I love to soak in a hot bathtub with fragrant bubbles when I have been out in the cold. It helps to warm you up and helps to get the circulation going again. One of my favorite ones is Lander's Vanilla Creme Caramel 3 in 1 bubble bath, body wash and shampoo. You don't need to worry about it getting in your hair. This item usually sells right about $5, but it is a great gift idea.

And when it comes to bath time, a great bath sponge is another great gift idea for stocking stuffers. You can purchase small plain ones in a variety of colors, or you can buy those that are long, and made for washing your back. I have one of these styles, and it feels good to have something that you can use to wash your back with, but not rip off your skin like bath brushes do. These can be bought for as little as $1 in most any store, some a cost little more than others, depending on who makes them.

You can also purchase nail polish for your teen. Not just one bottle, but a set with a base coat, a color coat, and a top coat. These little sets are easily found and run from $3 to $5 depending on the makers of the set. They come with many different colors and with instructions for proper application.

Another good stocking stuffer for a teenage girl is hair clips and head bands. You can find many different styles and many different prices. Most fall under $5 for a set or for one that is super nice. The smaller ones are not so good if your teen has thick full hair. Always check to see how much they will hold.

Make up is another great gift idea for stocking stuffers. At Christmas time, you can easily find a huge selection of those cheap make up sets that look cute, but when you actually try to apply it, you will find that the colors are usually terrible, they have a bad odor, and they do not come off very well. But purchasing make up that is a little more costly shows that you do know just how bad that the cheap stuff is. You can find many different sets of eye shadows, blushes and eye liners for less than $5 a piece or a set. Go with these, you will find that they will be more appreciated and used more often.

Another great gift idea for the stocking is a manicure set. Manicure sets can be easily found at all stores, including dollar stores. These sets can come with as little as nail clippers and files to a full out set with buffers, clippers, orange sticks, files, and small scissors for removing cuticles. Some even come with cuticle lotion, although it is not necessary if you have lotion already.

Nail art kits are another wonderful idea. These can come with little stickers that you can peel and stick, or with jewels that can be placed on the nails in the same manor. Some sets come with nail polish, some do not. You can also find these that give the appearance of a french manicure.

For the final idea for a stocking stuffer for under $5, you can check out the jewelry section. At Christmas time, you will find a wide selection of rings, watches, bracelets, necklaces, and ear rings. Some are in great little gift sets already in boxes. You can find many for under $5. The selection at Christmas time is huge, and you can usually find something special to put in the stocking that will fit anyone's tastes.

Making a stocking be as much fun as the presents that are wrapped can be as easy as looking for items that are inexpensive. I enjoy going through the stocking, as it is like looking through a box of goodies, full of lots of surprises.

So many great ideas that would have completely escaped me when it comes time to buy stocking stuffers. I'm thinking that the kids are going to need bigger stockings this year! :D
