The Fair this year takes place from August 31-September 6, 2007. The fairgrounds are open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Adults, $5 and children under 15, veterans and senior citizens are free. Ride tickets run $14 per person. Once in, the $14 investment will get you on a wide array of rides, including small children rides and big screamers that will send you into a fit of excitement!
The first day, August 31 offers a large opening ceremony and a vintage baseball game, harking back to the yesteryear days that the fair once started in. Also on this day is the NTPA sanctioned tractor and truck pulls, which always offers a memorable show. This event has won the best regional award for tractor pulls for 10 years straight!
September 1 is Veteran's Day and there is a free ham and bean dinner offered to all veterans and their families at noon. Various animals including horses and hogs are judged this day, along with the annual Jr. King and Queen crowning for this special anniversary. In the evening at 7:30 p.m., a concert featuring music from the 50's and 60's will take place by The Van-Dells. Also, at the same time, there is a Rough Truck Challenge that will showcase the talented and often entertaining drivers for these vehicles. Not to be missed!
Phil Vassar brings his county act to the stage also during the fair on Sept. 3rd at 7:30 p.m. He is joined by fellow recording artist Rodney Atkins. Tickets for the concert run from $18-$22 a piece, a great deal to see two great names in todays country music scene.
The demolition derby comes in on the 5th and 6th of September to entertain and engage with the crowds-not a sight to miss for families of ones with little boys especially! Don't forget also to check out the numerous stages and arenas set up for all of the local and regional singers and performers. The fair wraps up on September 6th with a large animal sale and a closing ceremony at 10:00 p.m. The last day is always a fun day to come out and explore what last minute deals you may find with a few vendors.
The Fulton County Fair this year look to be a momentous celebration of its age and experience-hope to see you out there. Bring the family and come be a part of history in the making-here is wishing the Fulton County Fair another 150 years of success and longevity!
