The bad news is that 15th Street Fisheries is a little tricky to find the first time. See, it's on the water (Intra-coastal harbor) but on the mainland side of everything and kinda tucked in there behind the 16th street causeway. Confused yet? OK.. from the barrier island take the causeway to the mainland and hook your first right over the bridge then go right again on 15th street. Then maneuver your way in between the boat trailers and whatnot and park at the end. There ya are.

The good news is you probably won't be wanting to find it a second time. heh.

Well, it looks cool enough with all the requisite boat nets and anchors and some-such all over the place. Actually it looks like it has a lot of promise. Looks can be deceiving though. Luckily, 15th Street Fisheries does have a full bar. I suggest you hit that first (and heavy) before you get your food. Hey I'm just trying to help ya out here...

The first thing I saw on the menu was, of course, lobster... and for only $15.95 on the lunch menu. Woohoo! I'm a shell fish freak so this was what looked like a definite score. Looked like. What I got was this whole lobster that was just so damn tough and tasteless accompanied by the grossest tasting version of pseudo drawn butter I've ever cared to come across. This is the first time in my 49 years that I have left a lobster unfinished. BLECH! It was seriously bad.

My friend went with Joe's Seafood Sizzler ($10.95), a combo of fish, shrimp, scallops disguised by a passable cream sauce of some sort. At least his was edible. I mean he ate the whole meal, but just kind of shrugged when I asked how it was.

We also tried both the Island Coconut Curry Soup and New England Clam Chowder for $3.95 each. The former being a bit spicy for me, the latter being too something.. I dunno.. just kinda yuck. The side of red potato salad though was actually good, and huge. For dessert get the Key lime Pie. It's made fresh there and is very yummy. I loved the chocolate crust on that, my dining companion hated it.

Our waiter, Rolando, was awesome... otherwise we might have thrown a fuss over those main courses. The ambiance is fantastic too... as long as ya like beach birds. We do. These swoop in and steal stuff like cracker packets off the tables. Funny as hell and very entertaining, but I could tell a few other diners were not amused... this, of course, led to me encouraging the feathered felons. heh.

So yeah. 2 stars for setting, service, and the funny birds... but ignore all the touristy brochures and just get dessert if ya go.

Well..guess with 'referrals' like this, I'll pass on trying to even find the place if I'm ever out that way! Keep on writing and warning unsuspecting tourists! LOL!
